14.2.
CLEANING OF GLASS
Through a specific secondary air entry the formation of dirt deposit, on the glass of the door, is efficiently slowed
down. It can never be avoided with the use of solid fuels (e.g. damp wood) and this is not to be considered a fault of
the appliance.
IMPORTANT: cleaning the panoramic glass must be carried out exclusively when the wood burning
stove/cooker is cold to avoid explosion. Do not use cloths, abrasive or aggressively chemical
products.
The correct lighting phase, the use of proper quantities and types of fuels, the correct position of the secondary air
regulator, enough draught of the chimney-flue and the presence of combustion air are the essential elements for the
optimal functioning of the appliance and for the cleaning of the glass.
BREAKAGE OF GLASS: the windows being in ceramic glass resistant to a thermal temperature imbalance of
750° C are not subject to thermal shocks. Their brea kage can only be caused by mechanical shock (knocks or
violent closure of the door, etc.). Therefore its replacement is not covered by the guarantee.
14.3.
CLEANING ASH DRAWER
All LA NORDICA wood burning stoves/cookers have a furnace grill and an ash drawer to collect ash. We advise you
to empty the ash drawer periodically and to avoid total filling up, so as not to overheat the grill. We also advise you to
always leave 3-4 cm of ash in the furnace.
WARNING: the ash removed from the furnace should be placed in a recipient of fire proof material with a tin lid. The
recipient should be placed on a fire proof floor, far from inflammable materials until it burns out and cools
the ash completely.
14.4.
VARNISHED PRODUCTS
After some years of product use a change in the varnished details colour is totally normal. This is due to
the considerable temperature range the product is subject to whenever in use and to the varnish ageing of
time passing by.
ATTENTION: before any possible application of the new varnish, do clean and remove all the traces from
the surface which has to be varnished.
14.5.
ENAMELLED PRODUCTS
For the cleaning of enamelled surfaces use soap water or not aggressive and not chemically abrasive
detergents. After the cleaning do NOT let soapy water or any cleanser dry but remove them immediately.
14.6.
CHROMIUM-COMPONENTS
If the components become bluish due to overheating, this can be solved with a suitable product for
cleaning. DO NOT use abrasives or solvents.
14.7.
CAST IRON TOP and the HOT PLATES
The cast iron top (cookers) and the hot plates (cookers - stoves) should be periodically sanded with 150
grit sandpaper.
14.8.
THE MAJOLICA
LA NORDICA majolica are products of high artisan workmanship and as such can have micro dotting crackling and
chromatic imperfections. These characteristics are a sign of its valuable nature.
Enamel and majolica for their different dilation coefficient, produce micro scratches (crackling) which show their
effective authenticity.
To clean the majolica use a soft dry cloth; if any detergent or liquid is used it could penetrate inside the crackles
highlighting them.
14.9.
MAINTENANCE ON THE WATER SYSTEM
With the system switched off, once a year carry out the following checks:
•
Check the operation and efficiency of the blowdown and safety valves. If they are defective, contact your
authorised installer. IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO REMOVE OR TAMPER WITH THE SAFETY
DEVICES.
•
Check the thermal insulation of the filling pipe and the safety pipe.
•
Make sure that the system is filled and under pressure, checking the water level in the expansion tank; also
check that it is working properly and check the efficiency of the safety pipe.
