A fixed IP address is assigned to every StecaGrid Connect device connected to
the DSL router.
The translation of the network addresses (NAT) is correctly configured.
The DynDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) is correctly configured (this en-
sures that a computer can always be accessed using the same domain name).
NOTE
Further information is provided in the documentation provided with your DSL
router.

IP address, subnet mask and standard gateway

Once the IP address and subnet mask of the router have been defined, you can select
an appropriate IP address for the StecaGrid Connect (see pages 30 and 36). In local
networks that use a router for common Internet access, the (internal) IP address of
the router must be set as the standard gateway for every PC authorised to access the
Internet and/or every connected StecaGrid Connect device (see page 39).
GSM

Web port and data port

Web browsers use the web port to access the StecaGrid Connect. The associated
StecaGrid Connect software uses the data port for access. The data port and the
web port of the StecaGrid Connect must be compatible with the data port and the
web port of the DSL router.
NOTE
Further information is provided in the documentation provided with your DSL
router.

Configuration

Configure:
The correct IP address, the subnet mask, and the standard gateway of the
StecaGrid Connect (see pages 30 and 36).
The correct web port and data port of the StecaGrid Connect (see page 38).

Connection of several StecaGrid Connect devices

Multiple StecaGrid systems (Master devices or Master-Slave combinations) require
one StecaGrid Connect for each Master in order to provide the data communi-
cation. These can be connected to each other via a switch in the same manner
as in a normal LAN. For large systems with large numbers of StecaGrid Connect
devices, several switches can be networked together to increase the number of
participants.

Installation

Use a 1-to-1 cable for connecting each StecaGrid Connect to the switch, and
also for connecting the switch to a PC, wireless access point, router or another
switch.

The Switch ("intelligent hub")

A switch is a network component for connecting several devices in a local network
PC
(LAN). Since switches make logical decisions, they are also known as "intelligent
hubs".
