4. Recommendations

Do not use this equipment without having read and understood this user
manual in its entirety. This manual includes critical information intended
to ensure the safety of the user and the individuals who handle the
backrest.

4.1 Usage verification

As soon as the client receives the Valeo backrest, verifications have to be made to ensure
a safe usage :
 Check if the laterals are well adjusted and fixed on the backrest;
 Check if the mounting hardware are adjusted at the right height and fixed on
the backposts;
 Check if any other accessory is suitably adjusted and firmly fixed.

4.2 Safety Rules

Several safety measures must be applied to ensure the safety of the user. Note that the
following list is not comprehensive. Therefore, the people who use the Valeo backrest
have the responsibility to use it cautiously:
 Never neglect the mounting hardware, or else, make sure the mounting
hardware are closed before using the wheelchair;
 Do not use the Valeo backrest to push or lift the wheelchair;
 Do not install the Valeo backrest on a wheelchair that is not built for it;
 Regularly check the integrity of the backrest, the backposts and the fasteners.
In case of spasticity that could damage the wheelchair and the Valeo
hardware, a dynamic backrest is recommended.
