6. Replace the belt (E in fig. 16). NOTE! Only genuine
STIGA belts are to be used.
7. Adjust the belt tension according to the above
instructions.
8. Assemble the belt guide (D) in fig 16.
9. Adjust the belt tension according to the above
instructions.
10. Reassemble the belt protection.
11. Adjust the control wire according to the below
instructions.
8.3.2 THE DRIVING BELT
1. Carry out items 1-5 above.
2. Remove the locking ring (17) from the swing plate shaft
(18). See fig 23. Pull out the shaft so that the swing plate
(20) can tip forward. See fig 23.
3. Remove the spring (16 in fig 23).
4. Replace the belt (13 in fig. 23). NOTE! Only genuine
STIGA belts are to be used.
5. Check that the tension pulley (12) is in line with the belt
(13). See fig 23.
6. Reassemble the spring (16), shaft (18) and locking ring
(17).
7. Check that the underside of the disc drive plate (20) is
situated between the marks (19). See fig 21.
NOTE! If the machine still does not drive properly,
recheck the location of the disc drive plate (20).
8. Adjust the belt tension according to the above
instructions.
9. Assemble the belt guide (D) in fig 16.
10. Adjust the belt tension according to the above
instructions.
11. Reassemble the belt protection. See fig 17.

ADJUSTING THE BELT GUIDE
1. Remove the spark plug protection.
2. Remove the belt protective cover (1) by loosening the
screws (2). See fig. 17.
3. Activate the auger clutch lever (13 in fig 7/8).
4. Check the distance between the belt guide and the belt.
The distance should be 3 mm. See fig 18.
5. If adjustment is required, loosen the screw to the belt
guide and set the correct distance.
6. Tighten the screw properly.
7. Reassemble the belt protection.
8. Reassemble the spark plug protection.

ADJUSTING THE CONTROL WIRES
When the belts are adjusted or replaced, the control wires
must also be adjusted (see below).
1. Unhook the wire from the clutch lever (fig. 24).
2. Push the clutch lever forward as much as possible (until
it touches the plastic protection on the handle).
3. Hold the wire stretched and note the position of the wire's
Z-shaped end.

4. When the wire is correctly adjusted its end should be
situated in the middle of the hole in the clutch lever (fig.
24).
If adjustment is required:
5. Lift the snow thrower forward and rest in on the auger
housing.
6. Push the wire through the spring so that the threaded part
is exposed (fig 22).
7. Hold the threaded part and adjust the nut up or down until
the correct setting is obtained.
8. Pull the wire through the spring again. Hook the wire into
the upper part of the clutch lever.
9. Same adjustment for both sides.
10. Start the snow thrower and check that it does not rotate
when the clutch lever is up (= disengaged).If it does,
contact an authorised service station.

FRICTION WHEEL
If the snow thrower does not move forward the problem
could be the driving belt, driving control wire or friction
wheel. Check the friction wheel as follows.
8.6.1 CHECKING THE FRICTION WHEEL
1. Remove the spark plug protection.
2. Lift the snow thrower forward and rest in on the auger
housing.
3. Loosen the screws (3) and dismantle the bottom plate (2).
See fig 202.
3. Put the gear stick in bottom forward gear (one).
4. Measure the distance A between the friction wheel and
the outside of the side plate in fig. 25. The distance should
be 109.5 mm.
5. Adjustments are carried out as follows.
6. Reassemble in the reverse order.
8.6.2 ADJUSTING THE FRICTION WHEEL
Dismantle the parts and measure according to the
instructions in items 1-4 above.
1. Loosen the screws and set the friction wheel until the
measurement in item 4 above is obtained.
2. If the friction wheel is so worn that adjustments cannot be
carried out satisfactorily, replace in accordance with the
following instructions.
3. Otherwise reassemble in the reverse order after adjusting.
8.6.3 REPLACING THE FRICTION WHEEL (TRACK)
1. Dismantle the right wheel from the shaft.
2. Loosen the screws (3) and dismantle the bottom plate (2).
See fig 20.
3. Remove the screw holding the chain sprocket (12) and
pull out the shaft (11) and remove the chain sprocket (12).
See fig 26.
4. Dismantle the two bearing mountings (16 in fig 21).
5. Dismantle the shaft and bearing mountings. Note the
location of the two washers (17 in fig 28).
6. Replace the friction wheel on its hub (fig. 29).
7. Reassemble all the parts in the reverse order. Note the
following when reassembling:
