Device-specific safety instructions
The surface and thickness planer may only be changed,
used and serviced by persons instructed in respect of
possible risks.
Make sure the device is steadily on the ground (risk of
turnover).
Wear working clothing:
- No loose clothing or jewels
- Non-skid shoes
- Hairnet for long hair
- Earmuffs
- Protective glasses
- Respirator
- Protective gloves for changing knives
Make sure the surface and thickness planer is not
exposed to humidity.
Provide good visibility at all times.
Using the device near flammable liquids and gases is
prohibited.
Connect the device to the dust or shaving exhauster.
Never let the device unattended!
Therefore, keep the device in a locked place out of reach
of children.
Device to be used only with completely and properly
installed protective equipment.
Do not make any changes to the device that could
adversely affect safety.
Make sure you can keep balance at all times. Stand on
the side of the device. Keep your hands in a safe
distance from the cutting cylinder and shavings output
when the device is running.
Remove any nails and other metal items from the
workpiece before planing. Moreover, make sure the
workpiece does not contain any cables, ropes, strings,
etc. Do not process any wood with a number of knots
and openings from knots.
Do not start planing before the cutting cylinder has
reached the necessary speed.
Make sure the planing knives are not blunt.
A protective knife cover must always be fitted to a cutting
cylinder that is not being used.
To process short workpieces, use faultless sliding wood
or faultless sliding rod.
Secure long workpieces against turnover at the end of
planing. Use e.g. a travel stand or a similar tool.
Make sure the handles are dry, with no oil and grease.
Suitable workpieces to be processed only (see Technical
specifications).
Never remove any free chips, shavings, etc. by hand.
Dust or shaving exhauster to be fitted at all times.
Make always sure the feed roller and cutting tools do not
contain any shavings and wood flour.
Clean the device properly before storing it for a long time.
Residual risks
There may still be some residual risks despite proper use and
complying with safety regulations.
There are the following risks:
Injury of fingers and hands as a result of contact with the
knife in exposed areas, when changing the tool;
moreover,
fingers and hands may get jammed when opening the
protective cover.
Threat by current if electric cables have not been
connected properly.
Hearing damage caused by long work without ear
protectors.
There may still be some hidden residual risks despite
following the Operating Instructions.
Operator requirements
The operator must carefully read the Operating Instructions
before using the appliance.
Qualification
No special qualification is necessary to use the appliance
apart from detailed instructions by an expert.
Minimum age
Hand the electrical device to instructed persons only.
Young people may only use the electrical device when they
are above 16 if it is necessary for achieving their educational
goal and if supervised by an expert adviser.
Training
Using the device only requires appropriate instructions.
No special training necessary.
Behaviour in case of emergency
In case of accident, first aid kit must always be available in
the place of your work in accordance with DIN 13164.
Material taken out of the first aid kit needs to be
supplemented right away.
If help is needed, please provide the following details:
Place of accident
Accident nature
Number of injured persons
Injury type
Provide necessary first aid treatment corresponding to the
injury nature and seek qualified medical help as soon as
possible. Protect the injured person against other injuries and
calm him/her down.
Guarantee
The guarantee solely covers inadequacies caused by material
defect or manufacturing defect. Original payment voucher
with the sales date needs to be submitted for any claim in the
guarantee period. The guarantee does not cover any
unauthorised use such as appliance overloading, use of
violence, damage as a result of any unauthorised interference
or caused by foreign items. Failing to follow the operating and
assembly instructions and common wear are also not
included in the guarantee.
Disposal
Disposal instructions are illustrated in the form of pictograms
on the device or packaging. Description of the pictograms is
given in "Identification" chapter.
Disposal of transport packaging
Packaging protects the device against damage during
transport. Packaging materials are usually selected according
to their effect on environment and disposal methods and can
therefore be recycled. Returning of the packaging back to
circulation saves resources and costs for packaging disposal.
Parts of the packaging (e.g. foil, styropor) may be dangerous
for children. Risk of suffocation! Keep these parts of the
packaging out of reach of children and dispose as soon as
possible.
