Instructions regarding accident prevention
Before commencing servicing or maintenance works,
cordon off the working area and check that the lifting
gear is in perfect condition.
Never work alone. Always wear a hard hat, safety glasses
and safety shoes and, if necessary, a suitable safety belt.
Before carrying out welding works or using electrical de-
vices, check to ensure there is no danger of explosion.
People working in wastewater systems must be vacci-
nated against the pathogens that may be found there.
For the sake of your health, be sure to pay meticulous
attention to cleanliness wherever you are working.
Make sure that there are no toxic gases in the working
area.
Observe the health and safety at work regulations and
make sure that a first-aid kit is to hand.
In some cases, the pump and the pumping medium may
be hot and could cause burns.
For installations in areas subject to explosion hazards,
special regulations apply!
APPLICATION
The buoyancy proof pump chamber is supplied as a
complete prefabricated pump station for use with pres-
sure drainage systems and as a sewage collection sump
for use with gravity sewers. The PKS 800 is suitable for
locations with class A 15 and B125. Preformed transport
eyelets provide easy transport and placing into its final
position.
The sump can be installed on firm undisturbed soil with-
out the need for any concrete work. Max. operating pres-
sure may not exceed 6 bar.
Scope of supply for PKS-B 800-32
Plastic sump, coupling system and guide rail system,
stainless steel ball shut off valve with extension and
safety locking device. Stainless steel discharge branch
DN 32 with 1 1/4" male thread,two 150 mm dia. pipe sock-
ets (for pipe between house and sump) for the inlet (one
ready for connection) and three 150 mm dia. connect-
ing branches (for pipe between house and sump) for the
venting and cable pipe.
Scope of supply for PKS-B 800-D32
Plastic sump, coupling systems and guide rail systems,
stainless steel ball shut off valves with extension and
safety locking devices. Stainless steel discharge branch
DN 32 with 1 1/4" male thread, 150 mm dia. pipe socket
(for pipe between house and sump) for the inlet and three
two 100 mm dia. connecting branches (for pipe between
house and sump) for the venting and cable pipe.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
By using our controls, you can be sure that the require-
ments of the EU type-testing certificate are met.
NOTICE! Only qualified electricians may carry out elec-
trical works to the pump or the controls.
The relevant standards (such as EN standards), country-
specific regulations (such as VDE in Germany), and the
regulations of the local power supply companies must
be observed.
NOTICE! When connecting the pump, coil up enough
cable in the sump to enable the pump to be lifted out of
the sump for maintenance work.
Level control
The air pipe for the electropneumatic level control or the
connecting pipe for the submersible ball contact switch
is hung in the slit in the cross-beam with a PG 11 screw
joint. By loosening the screw joint the air sensor or the
submersible ball contact switch can be set to the cor-
responding dimensions. Please refer to the instructions
for the control.
Additional local potential equalisation
According to a statement made by the German inspec-
tion authority TÜV Nord in March 2008, it is not neces-
sary to provide any additional potential equalisation on
site for Jung Pumpen concrete and plastic sumps in Ex
zones 1 or 2.
There is one exception: If conductive parts such as a
corrugated tube cable protection or a metal pressure
pipe lead to the sump connection from outside. In these
cases, an electrically conductive connection must be
made with the housing of the pump(s). For reasons of
corrosion protection, stainless steel should be used for
this connection. The dimensioning must comply in Ger-
many, for example, with Part 540 of VDE 0100. It should
be taken into account that the resistance of stainless
steel is 42 times that of copper.
INSTALLATION
1. Preparing the excavation
The excavation depth for the standard sump with class
A15 cover is 1.68 m plus 30 cm for the foundation.
The gradient of the sides of the excavation must be less
than 45° in the case of granular (non-cohesive) soils and
less than 60° in the case of cohesive soils. Steeper sides
must be secured properly and appropriately with sheet-
ing and other measures.
The 30 cm deep foundation must be made of non-cohe-
sive soil (grain size 2 to 32) (Group 1 according to ATV-
DVWK A 127) and have a 97% D
ENGLISH
degree of compaction.
