9. Installing the pump
In systems without sufficient backpressure of at least
a 2-metre head of water, leakage problems with the
non-return valve can occur. The pump then switches on
briefly even though no water has entered through the in-
let pipe. A special pressure pipe (available as an acces-
sory) can be installed to prevent this from occurring.
Fix the pressure pipe with the coupling valve to the di-
scharge branch of the pump. In the case of pumps from
MultiCut 20/2 M upwards, a transverse joint is screwed
on between the pump and the coupling valve to provide
extra stability.
NOTICE! Before fitting the pump, remove any soil, gravel
or sand inside the sump.
Before taking into service for the first time and after any
maintenance to the pump, grease the seal in the cou-
pling valve with acid-free grease to facilitate dismantling
the valve after long maintenance intervals.
When you insert the pump, ensure that the chain always
leads straight downwards, as otherwise the pressure
pipe assembly can jam at the guide rail and not engage
properly.
NOTICE! Ensure that the ball-type shut-off valve is
closed before lowering the pump.
After this, lower the pump and connect it up. Finally,
open the ball valve again.
NOTICE! A breathing valve must be installed in gravity
pressure pipes to avoid problems with operation.
NOTICE! In the case of pump chambers in pressure drai-
nage systems which have not been taken into service,
the ball-type shut-off valve must remain closed.

MAINTENANCE
Maintenance and inspection of this product must be car-
ried out in accordance with EN 12056-4 and EN 60074-19.
WARNING!
Before carrying out any works: disconnect the pump and
the controls from the mains and take steps to ensure
that it cannot be emergized again.
WARNING!
Check the mains cable for signs of mechanical and chem-
ical damage. Damaged or kinked cables must be replaced
by the manufacturer.
NOTICE! When using a chain to lift the pump, please ob-
serve the relevant national regulations regarding acci-
dent prevention. Lifting gear must be checked regularly
by an expert in accordance with the legal regulations.
To carry out maintenance work on the non-return valve
or the pump, the ball-type shut-off valve must be closed
and the complete pressure pipe assembly taken out of
the pump chamber together with the pump.
