4 Installation
Before mounting HYDAC Linear Position Transmitter, make sure there are no strong
magnetic and electric interference fields nearby.
Inadmissible interference fields can influence the measuring accuracy. The field strength
may be max. 3 mT in direct proximity of the measuring rod.
The installation of the linear position sensor in flat profile design with magnetic guidance
is relatively simple, as the mechanical guidance of the magnet does already exist due to
the type of system. The exact guidance of the captive-sliding magnet and non-contact
and wear free measurement system complement each other optimally. In order to
E
reduce the wear of the magnetic guidance unit to a minimum, the dimensional
tolerances for angle and parallel misalignment must be absolutely kept.
The accuracy of the measured values among others depends on the symmetry of the
magnetic field geometry. For the flat profile design without magnetic guidance, this
means that the magnet must be guided precisely with respect to the measuring system,
and parallel with regards to the axis and hight. The maximum permitted distance
between the magnet and the profile housing must not be exceeded.
The mounting kit material for the magnet should not be made of magenetiseable
material.
Should magnetisable material be used, a spacer made of non magnetisable material
must be used. The thickness of the non-magnetisable material must be at least 10mm at
the front and minimum 3 mm at the other sides (see fig. below). The spacer must be
installed between the magnet and its fixture. The screws must consist of non-
magnetisable material.
