4 Installation
Before mounting HYDAC Linear Position Transmitter, make sure there are no strong
magnetic and electric interference fields nearby.
Inadmissible interference fields can influence the measuring accuracy. The field strength
may be max. 3 mT in direct proximity of the measuring rod.
The measured values are transferred to the sensor rod via the Position Transmitter's
magnetic field (non-contact measurement). The accuracy of the measured values
among others depends on the symmetry of the magnetic field geometry. Mechanically,
this means that the Position Transmitter must be centrically installed and must be
exactly parallel to the axis of the rod.
The position magnet must not rub against the sensor rod.
To provide a proper magnetic field it is further necessary to use a non-ferrous circlip to
fix the magnet.
Depending on the cylinder design the Linear Position Transmitter can be installed from
the head side, resp. the rod side of the cylinder.
The Linear Position Transmitter is mounted by its Ø 48 mm flange in a lose fit. The
sensor rod fits into the bored piston rod.
The bore in the piston rod is dependent on hydraulic pressure and piston velocity etc.
however, it should be at least 13.5mm. The specified maximum pressure, however, may
not be exceeded.
The sealing of the sensor inside the cylinder is done by an O-ring, which is ready
installed on the sensor housing.
The securing of the sensor inside the cylinder is carried out by means of a M5 threaded
pin according DIN 913 or DIN 914. The maximum torque of 0,5 Nm should not be
exceeded.
