3. Gain
The gain of each output can be adjusted from –15 to +15 dB in 0,2dB steps. The default gain setting for
all outputs is 0dB.
OUT 1
Gain
Attention: Please take care that this gain setting, together with other parameters that represent a
signal gain increase, such as input or output equalization with positive gain, could imply an
output level that saturates the power amplifier input. This circumstance could damage the
speakers.
To adjust the gain setting, use the encoder wheel or the ◄ and ► keys.
4. Limiter
Each output features a limiter which can be adjusted to any value between –10,0dBV to +20 dBV, in
0,2dB steps.
OUT 1
Limit
The accurate adjustment of the limiter can become very important if loudspeaker systems should be
protected against signal clipping or excessive power.
When a power amplifier receives an input level higher than its nominal input level, the input stage can
get saturated, resulting in an amplified clipped output signal. This clipped signal has a strong DC voltage
component, which can easily damage the loudspeakers. To avoid this, the limiter should be adjusted so
that the saturation of the amplifier input is avoided.
On the other hand, if the power amplifier has a lager power output than the loudspeakers can handle, or
the system must operate during long periods at full power, the limiter must be adjusted so that the signal
delivered by the power amplifier does not damage the speakers.
The limiter threshold level also serves as the reference for the output VU-meter, so that the levels
displayed always stay in relation to the adjusted limiter threshold. If e.g the limiter is set to 2,0dBV, the
LIMIT indication on the output VU-meter corresponds to +2dBV, and the values below are:
