Checking and replacing the drive belts, fig. 15-16
The two drive belts (fig. 16, A) must be in a good condi-
tion to ensure an optimum power transmission from the
engine to the saw blade. Check the condition of the drive
belts. If they are torn, worn or flat, they must be replaced
as soon as possible.
1. Switch the engine off.
2. The engine has to cool down.
3. Remove the belt protection (fig. 1, 21) to have access
to the belts.
4. Unfasten the 4 locking nuts on the engine (fig 15, B
and rear of engine).
Replacement
Release the belts by unscrewing the two tensioning
screws (fig. 15, B) evenly. Remove the worn belts and
replace them with new ones placing them on the disc.
5. Retighten the drive belt (fig. 16, A) when the belt
slackens by more than 10-15 mm (apply pressure
with thumb). In order to tension the belt, retighten
the two tensioning screws (fig. 15, A).
6. Retighten the 4 locking nuts on the engine (fig 15,
B and rear of the engine). In this process, pay atten-
tion that the drive pulleys and driven pulleys are in
alignment with each other.
7. Replace the belt protection.
When removing or mounting the drive belt, pay attention
that your fingers do not get jammed between the belt
and the roller.
