2 Description and operation

The built-in electronic high-voltage power unit operates at 24 V DC and delivers a output
voltage of between 0 and 20 kV DC. The output voltage is current-limited. When the high
voltage output is overloaded, the output voltage will drop.
The high voltage output of the CM Tiny (IQ) is also protected against arcing. When arcing
occurs, the CM Tiny (IQ) is switched of briefly (< 0.3 seconds). The output voltage is self-
recovering. Two LEDs on the generator (on the same side as the M12 connector) indicate the
status of the CM Tiny (IQ).

2.1 CM Tiny

The level of the output voltage is set with an external control current signal of between
4 and 20 mA (setpoint).
The high voltage becomes active when 24 V DC is applied to the "Remote On/Off" input.
The "HV OK" output produces a 24 V signal when high voltage is present. When high voltage is
not present or when an error occurs, the "HV OK" output is not active.

2.2 CM Tiny IQ

If the CM Tiny with IQ function is connected to the Simco-Ion IQ platform, the "Setpoint" and
"Remote On/Off" will be configured on or through the Simco-Ion IQ platform. Communication
between the CM Tiny IQ and the Simco-Ion IQ platform runs through a serial protocol. Sending
the "HV OK" signal back to the Simco-Ion IQ platform is also done through this serial protocol.
In addition, the CM Tiny IQ offers a number of adjustable parameters which can only be used if
the generator is connected to the Simco-Ion IQ platform.

- Choice between voltage and current control
- Limitation of output current/output voltage
- Readout of the web voltage (IQ sensor bar required)
- Data logging (output voltage and output current)
- Setting the minimum charge pulse and setting a warning when the maximum charge pulse is
exceeded
- Setting the maximum permissible number of arcing occurences per minute
