1 Introduction

The CM Tiny (IQ) is a high voltage generator designed to supply the Simco-Ion charging
bars/electrodes with high voltage. This combination is referred to as the Simco electrostatic
charging system. This allows for a temporarily adhesion of material.
The small dimensions and low weight of the generator enable it to be placed close to the
charging bar / electrode. The generator can be used as an end-of-arm tool on robots. The
replaceable head on the generator allows users to quickly change charging electrodes. The
electrode head on the generator is part of the charging bar / electrode and is not supplied as
standard.
The CM Tiny is powered and controlled by an M12 connector. The CM Tiny can be controlled
directly via the M12 connector or by using the CM Tiny external control kit. The external control
kit is a separate module that can be placed elsewhere in the machine and offers a range of
options for providing an analogue setpoint for the output voltage. See the CM Tiny external

The CM Tiny IQ with IQ function can be used as described above; in addition, it can also be
connected to the Simco-Ion IQ Easy platform. If the CM Tiny IQ is connected to the Simco-Ion
IQ Easy platform, it will be controlled by the IQ Easy Manager using a serial protocol. During
start-up the CM Tiny IQ will detect whether serial communication with the Simco-Ion IQ Easy
platform is possible. If no serial communication is active during start-up, the CM Tiny IQ will
perform like a CM Tiny with analogue controls.
