5 Cleaning
Risk of injury from broken glass!
Never use excessive force to unstick stuck stopcocks or ground
joint connections.
Cleaning
If the burette does not discharge without dripping or if it sets the zero
point too low, the burette must be cleaned. To clean, fill the burette with
a mild alkaline cleaner and rinse it out with water several times after the
prescribed soaking time.
Unsticking stuck parts
a.
Completely immerse stuck stopcocks or ground joint connections in a
cleaning solution and allow to soak overnight.
b.
Carefully unstick stuck stopcocks or ground joint connections while
wearing suitable safety gloves.
c.
If unsuccessful, send the instrument in for repair.
6 Recommendation
We recommend using a PTFE ground joint sleeve for the ground joint con-
nection to the supply bottle, as these do not require grease for sealing.
