c) Record Level Indicator
The level indicator (10) shows the level of the output signal and the headphone signal.
The level on the level indicators should not exceed 0db permanently as otherwise the music signal can
be distorted. Signal peaks that cause the indicator to briefly light up above 0db do not pose a problem.
d) Volume Control
Set the volume of the connected amplifier to minimum.
Turn the MASTER control (12) and the GAIN control (2) to minimum.
Slide the channel fader (6) to minimum.
Use the input selection switches PHONO/LINE (5) or MIC/LINE/PHONO (4) to select the corresponding channel
input.
Start the connected playback device, e.g. a CD player. If this device has a volume control, set the volume to about
75% of the maximum level.
Slide the respective channel fader (6) all the way to the top.
Turn the MASTER control (12) to maximum.
You can set the signal level with the GAIN control (2). The signal level can now be read from the recording level
display. It should not exceed 0db.
Now set the desired maximum volume with the volume control on the amplifier. Make sure that the sound is not
distorted.
You can change the playback sound with the controls LOW/MID/HIGH (3).
Repeat the setting for all mixer channels. All channels should have about the same volume when cross-fading
between the channels so that there are no great differences in the volume which would otherwise require the
output signal to be adjusted.
After you have made these settings, use only the MASTER control (12) when you want to change the playback
volume.
Make sure that the connected speakers and the amplifier are not overloaded. The sound should
never be distorted.
If there are any distorted music signals even though the volume on the amplifier has not been
set too high and the mixer has been set correctly, switch off the mixer immediately and check
the connection. If the connection is correct, please contact a specialist.
