THERMOMARK

OPERATION
Before lighting the system, be sure the applicator
i
contains a minimum of one bag of thermoplastic,
or the kettle should be 1/4 full.
Wear personal protective equipment including
heat resistant clothes when filling with
thermoplastic.
Use existing equipment handles when filling
with thermoplastic for ease of use.
The outer surface of the holding tank will become
hot while heating thermoplastic. Avoid direct
contact with the surface.
Keep the holding tank doors shut while heating.
NEVER place your hands inside the holding tank
while the burners are lit.
5.1
LIGHTING THE APPLICATOR
NEVER leave a lighted applicator unattended.
DO NOT allow the burner to operate with an
empty material tank.
Heat resistant gloves should be worn when
lighting the applicator.
1. Connect a 20 lb. LP (liquid propane) fuel tank to the POL
fitting on the gas hose (the POL fitting has left-handed
threads).
2. Make sure the following items are properly positioned:
OFF
Thermostat
LP Gas safety valve
Infra-red cock valve
3. Turn on the LP fuel tank valve by turning the knob counter-
clockwise.
4. Immediately check for the sound of leaking. Check further
for other leaks by wetting all fittings with a soap and
water solution, looking for bubbles. Tighten or replace as
needed.
If a leak is found that is not solved by tightening a
fitting (i.e. damaged hose), shut LP fuel tank valve
OFF immediately. replace the source of the leak.
5. Open the pilot access door (see figure 2, item 9). Turn the
pilot safety valve knob to "PILOT".

PILOT
6. Locate the main burner pilot assembly, accessible through
the lower left side of the firebox.
7. Depress and hold the pilot safety button. Using ONLY
a long-stem lighter, attempt to ignite the pilot flame.
This process may take several minutes to allow air in the
plumbing to bleed out.
Do not use a propane torch to ignite the pilot
flame as it could damage the pilot system.
Attention
8. When pilot flame ignites, continue to hold the pilot button
for another 30 seconds or until the pilot remains lit when
releasing the button.
9. Turn the pilot safety valve knob to "ON".
10. Adjust the thermostat to the desired temperature and
check to see that the main burner has ignited. Close and
latch the doors.
11. The system is now operational.
12. Make sure the doors above the agitator are closed. Begin
agitating the material as soon as it is practical (left lever).
Continue agitation and increase frequency as the material
gets hotter.
Make sure the doors above the bay that contains
the agitator are closed. NEVER place your hands
inside the holding tank while the burners are lit.
There may be some variation between the
i
thermostat setting and the actual material
temperature. This variation will diminish after
about one hour of operation.
It
is important to monitor the material
temperature gauge to determine if compensation
is required. Adjust the thermostat as needed.
Constantly monitor the material temperature
and double check with an infrared thermometer.
