INTENDED USE AND MAXIMUM SYSTEM WEIGHT
The range of use of DT Swiss forks is divided into five categories – from riding on tarred roads to downhill
and freeride riding. Only use the fork in the way it was intended, as described below. Otherwise the user shall
assume full responsibility.

Category 1: Riding on tarred roads
Category 1 is a set of conditions for the use of bicycles and their components on tarred
roads Where the wheels are in continuous contact with the road.
Category 2: On- and off-road riding and drops up to 15 cm
Category 2 is a set of conditions for the use of bicycles and their components under the
conditions in Category 1 as well as untarred roads, gravel trails and trails with moderate
grades. The wheels may not always be in contact with the ground. Drops are intended to
be limited to 15 cm or less.
Category 3: Riding on rough terrain and jumps of up to 61 cm
Category 3 is a set of conditions for the use of bicycles and their components under the
conditions in Categories 1 and 2 as well as rough trails, rough unpaved roads, and rough
terrain and unimproved trails requiring advanced technical skills. Jumps and drops are
intended to be limited to 61 cm or less.
Category 4: Riding on rough terrain and jumps of up to 122 cm
Category 4 is a set of conditions for the use of bicycles and their components under the
conditions in Categories 1, 2 and 3 plus downhill speeds of up to 25 mph (40 km/h) on
rough trails. Jumps are intended to be limited to 122 cm.
Category 5: Extreme riding (downhill, freeride)
Category 5 is a set of conditions for the use of bicycles and their components under the
conditions in Categories 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus extreme jumps and speeds in excess of 25 mph
(40 km/h) on rough trails.
