3. Operating instructions

a) When the oil container (K) is to be filled, the nozzle is immersed
in oil and the piston retracted using the handle.
The nozzle is then pointed upwards and the valve ball retaining
the oil depressed slightly to permit any air to escape.
The oil container can be removed and refilled without releasing
the hydraulic pressure.
For mounting bearings with the SKF Oil Injection Method, or
by means of an hydraulic nut, it is recommended to use an oil
with a viscosity of approximately 300 mm
temperature.
For dismounting bearings, it is recommended to use an oil with a
viscosity of approx. 900 mm
b) The injector must be firmly screwed into the application.
c)
Open the release valve (A) and screw the full oil container in
position. The oil container should not be screwed too tightly on
the injector. Too much force may break the filter nipple. Ensure
that air-free oil escapes from the hole in the filter nipple (D).
d) Make a few strokes with the lever to displace any air trapped in
the injector body and then close the release valve firmly.
If the valve is not tight enough then it can be difficult to reach the
maximum pressure.
e) Continue pumping until the required pressure for your
application is reached.
226400 E: Maximum pressure is 300 MPa (43 500 psi).
226400 E/400: Maximum pressure is 400 MPa (58 000 psi).
f ) Once the component has been mounted/dismounted, open the
release valve to allow the superfluous oil to flow back to the oil
reservoir.
g) Unscrew the oil reservoir after using the oil injector. Drain the oil
from the reservoir, by depressing the valve ball, before replacing
the oil injector and reservoir in the carrying case.
