Figure 3 Install the battery
Charge the battery
Fire hazard. Use only the battery charger that is specified for this instrument.
Before initial use, fully charge the instrument battery with the supplied battery charger. A discharged
battery is fully charged in approximately 8 hours.
1. Make sure that the correct type of plug for the geographic location is installed on the battery
charger.
2. Connect the battery charger to an electrical outlet with earth ground.
3. Connect the battery charger to the battery charger connector on the instrument. Refer to
on page 5. The battery level shows on the display.
Note: The instrument cannot be set to off or rebooted while the battery charger is connected to the instrument.
4. When the battery level is 100%, disconnect the battery charger from the instrument. The
instrument is set to off.
Connect to a sonde
Connect the instrument to a sonde with a deployment cable or a communications module. Refer to
Figure 4
and
Figure
5.
The instrument supplies power to the sonde when connected to the sonde with a calibration cable or
deployment cable, but not when it is connected with a communications module.
Note: If a data acquisition system is connected to the sonde, the data acquisition system does not control the
sonde while the sonde is connected to the instrument.
