- danger to persons through a failure to observe hygiene regulations
relating to dealing with faeces,
- danger to persons and the environment through leaks of
hazardous substances.
2.4 Safety precautions for the operator
Existing regulations for the prevention of accidents must be
followed.
All risks caused by electrical energy must be eliminated. All
directives issued by the local electricity supply companies must be
observed.
2.5 Safety information for inspection and assembly
The operator must ensure that all inspection and installation work is
carried out by authorized and qualified specialists who have
carefully studied these instructions.
Work to the pump/machinery should only be carried out when the
machine has been brought to a standstill.
2.6 Unauthorised modification and manufacture of spare parts
Alterations to the pump or installation may only be carried out with
the manufacturer's consent. The use of original spare parts and
accessories authorised by the manufacturer will ensure safety. The
use of any other parts may invalidate claims invoking the liability of
the manufacturer.
2.7 Unauthorised operating methods
The operating safety of the equipment delivered is only guaranteed
for proper usage as detailed in section 1 of the operating
instructions. All values must neither exceed nor fall below the limit
values given.
The unit is not designed for continuous operation!
ATTENTION !
The specified maximum volume rate of flow
applies to intermittent use (S3).
The max. possible feed rate must always be less than the delivery
rate of the pump at the relevant operating point. All prescribed
electrical connection values as well as assembly and maintenance
instructions must be observed at all times. Operating the unit in
conditions other than those outlined above will lead to excessive
loads which the unit is unable to withstand. Failure to heed this
warning could lead to personal injury and damage to property.
The geodetic delivery head from the construction

level of the unit to the highest point of the
pressure piping may not exceed 5.0 mWS (water column metres).
See chapters 1.2.2.1 and 1.2.2.2.

3. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE

When the equipment is delivered, check that it has not been
damaged in transit. If a fault is noticed, take all necessary action
with the carrier.
The unit is delivered in cardboard packaging that
ATTENTION !
must not be stacked. During transport ensure that
the unit is protected against impacts and cannot fall. The unit is to
be stored in a dry, frost-free place in accordance with the
instructions on the packaging.

4. PRODUCT AND ACCESSORIES

4.1 Installation description
The LIFTSON M and L sewage lifting units collect all sewage water
discharged in their collection vessels. A rod float switch switches on
the pumps assembled to the vessel, complete with blockage-free,
non-chokable impeller, as soon as the relevant level is reached.
Due to the special geometry of the vessel, even suspended matter is
fed into the pump, thereby precluding deposits in the vessel.
A flap trap is built into the unit, which means a backflow preventer
as prescribed by EN 12056 no longer needs to be installed in the
pressure piping. The backflow preventer has a ventilating device
allowing the pressure piping to be drained if necessary.
Connecting pieces on the top of the vessel allow both DN40 and
DN70 pipe connections for additional supply lines and ventilation.
Various nominal widths of supply lines can be connected on three
sides as well as to the top of the vessel (see section "Connections to
the vessel"). An inspection opening allows easy maintenance of the
unit.
Mounting straps (also used as carrying handles) are fitted on the
sides of the collecting vessel and used together with the fasteners
provided to anchor the unit securely to the ground. The insulating
strips provided and which are to be affixed to the base of the vessel
prevent the transfer of structure-borne noise.
The LIFTSON M and L sewage lifting units are ready for three-phase
current connection (3~400V) using a switchgear and EEC switch,
and for AC connection (1~230V) using a switchgear and shock-
proof plug.
Three-phase current model with built-in motor protection, together
with phase inverter, rotation direction control, ON/OFF switch and
automatic/manual control switch, AC model with necessary
operating capacitor(s), ON/OFF switch and automatic/manual
control switch.
When the maximum water level is reached an acoustic signal is
emitted and the pump(s) are automatically switched on. A built-in
storage battery allows an alarm signal to be given off-line. This signal
will then switch off again when water drops below the maximum
water level.
The twin pump set is equipped with a basic-load pump and a peak-
load pump. To ensure an even load on both pumps, the pumps are
swapped after each pump run. Should one of the pumps become
damaged, the second pump will automatically run as a base load
pump.
4.2 Scope of supply
Sewage lifting unit ready for connection, included :
- Switchgear (1~ 230V / 3~ 400V).
- Connection SET for DN100 inlet (circular cutter, inlet seal).
- DN80/100 flange connecting piece with flat gasket, flexible hose
piece, hose clamps, screws and nuts for connecting the discharge
piping.
- DN70 Konfix connector for connecting the ventilation pipe.
- DN50 hose piece with hose clamps for connecting the suction
pipe to the manual diaphragm pump or a DN40 supply line.
- Insulating strips to prevent transmission of structure-borne noise.
- Fixing equipment.
- Installation and operating instructions.
4.3 Accessories
Accessories must be ordered separately.

included in product packaging), DN100, DN150 for connecting the
inlet or outlet-side gate to the pipes.
- DN 100 inlet seal for further supply; one included in product
packaging.
- Connection Set for DN 150 inlet (circular cutter, inlet seal).
- Shut-off valves DN80, DN100, DN150.

5. ASSEMBLY - INSTALLATION

When installing lifting units all applicable regional regulations and
the relevant information provided in EN 12050-1 in general must be
observed.
- The area in which the lifting unit is to be installed must be of
sufficient size to enable free access for operation and
maintenance work. Sufficient working space at least 60 cm wide
and high is to be provided next to and above all parts to be
operated and maintained.
