Activating the high frequency
Be sure that the patient is prepared in such a way that the HF de-
vice can be applied without any risk to the patient.
Verify that the accessories required are connected correctly.
Be sure that all settings on the HF device are in conformance with
the application requirements.
Activate the required HF output via the hand switch, the foot pedal
or through autoCOAG.
For each activation mode, a different acoustic signal sounds and
the color of the corresponding field in the display changes:
CUT: Signal for CUT, display color yellow
COAG: Signal for COAG, display color blue
To warn of the approaching maximum time of HF activity, the vol-
ume of the acoustic signal rises to 100 % 7 seconds before the HF
current is switched off automatically.

If a Vario pedal (GN 323 or GN 325) is used for coagulation, a bar sym-
bol appears on the display

4.3 Functional test
Prior to each use, carry out a functional test of the device:
Be sure that the accessories used for the functional test are not
damaged in any visually detectable way.
Prepare and set up the device, see Preparation and setup.
Check the functionality of the following elements, one after the
other, in the following sequence:
– Power ON switch
, indicator lamp (ON)
– Automatic self-test after switching on: Acoustic signal ("sound
check") and display ("display test")

– Monopolar activation
– Neutral electrode monitoring (error message on display if neutral
electrode not plugged in correctly)
