CALIBRATING THE RECORDER
Before first use, the parameters of the recorder must be adjusted so that they best fit the
mandibular movement sensor in use. It is not necessary to calibrate the device at each use
provided a particular recorder is always used with the same mandibular movement sensor.
However, the device must be recalibrated in case a different mandibular movement sensor
is associated with it. Recalibration of the device can also help solve a problem related to the
recording of the Jawac signal (see the chapter «Troubleshooting»).
Each time a new mandibular movement sensor is associated with the recor-
der, the device must be recalibrated..
To calibrate the device:
• Gather the recorder, the mandibular movement sensor which is associated with the recorder,
and the calibration tool provided with the sensor. The probes must be inserted into the holes
in the calibration tool.
• Connect the recorder to the PC.
• Connect the JAWAC (black connector) to the BRIZZY
• Go to the "OPTION" menu of the CERES software.
• Click on 'Calibrate Device'.
• Follow the instructions which appear on the screen.
• Once it has been launched, the calibration process runs automatically. The green indicator
light on the device flashes rapidly during calibration.
The probes must remain fully pushed down into the holes of the calibration
tool during the entire calibration process. If a calibration is started when the
probes are not in the proper position, the mandibular movement measure-
ments will be incorrect. Recalibrate the device in this case.
During calibration, the calibration tool should stand at a distance of at least 20cm (8») from any
metallic object and from any other electronic device (ex: computer). Pay particular attention to
the material (possibly metallic) of the table which is supporting the calibration tool.
