Glossary of terms
Slope/sensitivity
This value is expressed in mV/pH at 25 °C and is theoretically 59.16 mV/pH at
25 °C. Slope values of between 40 ... 65 mV/pH nevertheless deliver adequate
results.
Temperature compensation
The dependence on temperature of the pH value follows directly from the
dependence on concentration of the electrode potential (Nernst equation) and
results in a linear relation between the slope of the pH electrode and the
absolute temperature.
From this follow the relations for calculating the temperature compensated pH
value and for calculating the temperature dependent zero point and slope from
1-point or 2-point calibration.
