Use in explosive areas
The CD01-PA valve system fulfills the requirements
specified in ATEX directive 2014/34/EU and may be used
in accordance with the installation regulations currently in
effect for devices and systems in explosive areas as
follows:
W
In zone 2 (Gas Ex, category 3G) in explosion groups IIA
and IIB, temperature class 4
Conversion of the valve system is only permitted with the
permissible components listed in section "13 Appendix".
No component on its own is ATEX-certified. Only entire
valve systems in the electrical versions listed in section 1
are ATEX-certified.
The CD01-PA valve system may only be fastened to a
mounting plate.
O Always observe the technical data and limits indicated
on the rating plate for the complete unit, particularly
the data from the ATEX identification.
O Only use the product in normal industrial atmospheres.
O As the pressure medium, use compressed air
generated and prepared outside the explosive area.
O As the pressure medium, use only compressed air that
does not corrode the valve system and its sealing
materials.
Improper use
Any use other than that described under Intended use is
improper and is not permitted.
If unsuitable products are installed or used in safety-
relevant applications, this may result in unintended
system operating states that may lead to injuries and/or
equipment damage. Therefore, only use a product in
safety-relevant applications if such use is specifically
stated and permitted in the product documentation. For
example, in areas with explosion protection or in safety-
related components of control systems (functional safety).
AVENTICS GmbH is not liable for any damages resulting
from improper use. The user alone bears the risks of
improper use of the product.
Improper use of the product includes:
W
use in firedamp protection areas,
W
use of a valve system in explosive areas in a valve
system without ATEX certification,
W
if the valve system is mounted on rails in explosive areas,
W
use of the product for any application not stated in this
documentation or
W
use of the product under operating conditions that
deviate from those described in this documentation.
Personnel qualifications
Assembly and commissioning require basic electrical and
pneumatic knowledge, as well as knowledge of the
appropriate technical terms. Assembly and commissioning
may therefore only be carried out by qualified electrical or
pneumatic personnel or an instructed person under the
direction and supervision of qualified personnel.
Qualified personnel are those who can recognize possible
hazards and institute the appropriate safety measures due
to their professional training, knowledge, and experience, as
well as their understanding of the relevant regulations
pertaining to the work to be done. Qualified personnel must
observe the rules relevant to the subject area.

Safety instructions related to the product
and technology
Danger of explosion if plugs are disconnected in a
potentially explosive atmosphere!
Disconnecting plugs while under voltage results in large
potential differences.
O Never disconnect plugs in an explosive atmosphere.
O Only work with the valve system in non-explosive
atmospheres.
Dangerous movements!
Danger of death, injuries or damage to property!
O Make sure the relevant system component is not
under pressure or voltage before assembling or
when connecting and disconnecting plugs. Protect
the system against being switched on.
O Ensure personnel safety before switching on the
device.
