O Observe the operating instructions for the respective
bus coupler.
O Connect the miniDIN connection of the first contact
bridge to the bus coupler.
O Make sure that the miniDIN plug on the further contact
bridges is connected to the preceding contact bridge.
O Always close off the last contact bridge with a data
final plug.
Connecting the sensors
The contact bridges for connecting to a bus coupler can
receive sensor signals and forward them to the controller.
O Connect the sensors to the integrated M12 plug on the
top of the contact bridge. See AVENTICS online catalog
for the sensor connection pin assignment.
Tightening torque: 0.9 ±0.1 Nm
Overcurrent protection
Danger of explosion!
Overcurrent, e.g. resulting from a short circuit, can
cause an explosion in explosive areas.
O Provide for overcurrent protection as per
EN 60204-1 if the current in any circuit can exceed
either the rated value for a component or the current
carrying capacity of the conductor, whichever is the
lower value.
Grounding the valve system
Danger of explosion due to electrostatic discharge!
Formation of sparks!
O Make sure that the valve system and all conductive
metal parts are electrically connected and grounded.
The "potential equalization" (PA) connection of the
associated equipment must have a low-induction
connection with the potential equalization of the
system.
In a CD01-PA valve system in the electric version with VDS
bus coupler, the first and last value must be grounded with
a ground cable (see "Permissible components" in section
"13 Appendix"). This is why the contact bridges for the VDS
bus coupler have an additional grounding option next to
the cable outlet.
O Connect the ground cable to the additional grounding
option.
Connecting the pneumatics
1. Remove the blanking plugs at the pneumatic connections.
2. Make the pneumatic connections for the valve. You can
find the pneumatic connection technology for valve
tubing in the online catalog.
DANGER
DANGER
The CD01-PA valve system can be pneumatically supplied
over the left and right end plates.
O Check that all pneumatic connection ports are
connected or plugged.
O Make sure the relevant system part is not under
voltage or pressure.
To connect push-in fittings, slide the tubing up to the stop
in the push-in fitting and gently tug to see if the tubing is
tightly inserted.
Connecting the end plates
O In areas with explosive dust atmospheres, evacuate
compressed air and exhaust outside of the explosive
area or regularly blow off accumulated dust with the
exhaust air.
The nominal width for the exhaust must be dimensioned
so that the dynamic pressure is as low as possible.
1. Assemble a connection for a restricted exhaust at
exhausts 3 and 5.
2. Mount the supply line at supply connection 1.
3. If necessary, connect the external pilot air at
connection X.
Connection R for the collected control air exhaust in the
end plates may not be closed with a screw.
Connecting the working connections
O Connect the working connections to connections 2 and
4 on the intermediate plate for the CD01-PA.
O Close unused connections with a plug, if necessary.

Commissioning
Danger of explosion due to damaged housing!
Damaged housing can lead to an explosion in explosive
areas.
O Make sure that the valve system components are
only operated with completely assembled and intact
housing.
Danger of explosion due to missing seals and caps!
Liquids and foreign objects could penetrate and destroy
the device.
O Make sure that the seals are integrated in the plug
and that they are not damaged.
O Make sure that all plugs are mounted before starting
the system.
