3. Connect ("earth") pipelines, protective tubes and sheathing made of metal to a protective conductor.
4. Allow the supply cable to warm up to room temperature +20 °C before beginning the installation.
5. The heating cable's electrical continuity, resistance and insulation resistance must be checked before beginning
installation, and also after installation, but always before connecting the power supply.
Important! The resistance value before and after installation must match the value on the product label or in the table
below. A tolerance of + -5 % to +10 % is allowed. The insulation resistance must be more than 10 MOhm. (See: Table 2)

6. Check the heating cable and supply line for damage.
7. Only one cable end is heated. The heated cable is the upper cable coming out of the drinking bowl at the side.
The lower cable is not heated.
Important: The last 30 cm of the heating cable – towards the connection end – are not heated.
8. Route only the heated end along the pipe, and fix it in place using aluminium adhesive tape. Comply with safety
instructions.
- Route the cables so that they are out of the reach of animals.
- Cable ends (at plugs or junction boxes) must be easily accessible for repair and maintenance work.
9. Attach insulation.
The insulation must be no thicker than 13 mm. Excessive insulation of the heating cable leads to overheating.
10. The insulation must be protected with an additional water-tight sheath which is laid helically over the insulation to
prevent moisture ingress.
11. Route the supply line (unheated end) along the insulation, and also fix it in place using aluminium adhesive tape.
12. Connect the supply cable to the power supply in a single run.
Device type 222064: 230 V (IP54 junction box)
Device type 222065: 24 V (transformer required, see accessories)
13. Apply gnaw protection. (Item number 221975, not included in the scope of delivery).
