(EN) Installation instructions
Please read these instructions carefully before installation and use.
Damage caused by not following the instructions is excluded from any liability and warranty.
1. Safety instructions
Caution!
Risk of physical injury to people and animals and material damage if used incorrectly!
• Proper connection and routing should be carried out only by a qualified electrician.
Comply with the relevant VDE (Association of German Electrical Engineers) regulations.

• This device can be used by children 8 years of age and older and by individuals with impaired physical, sensory or men-
tal abilities or by those with insufficient experience and knowledge, as long as they are being supervised or have been
trained on the safe use of the device and they understand the underlying hazards. Children must not play with the device.
Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.
• Fire hazard! To prevent fires, the heating cable must be kept at least 13 mm away from all flammable materials.
• Fire hazard! Use only non-flammable pipe insulation (Fig. 9).
• Before the start of insulation, the details on the drinking bowl type plate, the heating cable type plate, and the pak-
kaging must be compared. If the indicated operating voltages do not agree, the device must not be installed, and it must
be returned to the manufacturer.
• Before the start of insulation, check that the colour of the cable insulation matches the operating voltage specified on
the type plate (24 Volt = Grey | 230 Volt = Red).
• Drinking bowl models with an operating voltage of 230 Volt must be operated only on a power circuit equipped with
a B10 A or B16 A circuit breaker. A separate 30 mA RCD circuit breaker must also be provided. A combined RCD/circuit
breaker with adequate tripping characteristics may be used. The RCD circuit breaker must supply only the circuits inten-
ded for the drinking bowls with a heating cable.
• For safety reasons, metal pipes, protective tubes and sheathing must be earthed before installation. Before starting the
installation, it must be ensured that all metal parts which can come into contact with the heating cable are connected to
a protective conductor.
• The entire system must be checked for electrical continuity, and any necessary additional earthing connections must be
created.
• Operate device types 222063 and 222065 only with transformers having galvanic separation (protective separation), a
fuse and 24 Volt output voltage.
• For device types 222063 and 222065, mount the transformer out of the reach of animals.
• The RCD in the distribution board, in sub-distribution boards and the socket or junction box must each be labelled with
a sticker bearing warning signs and indicating the precise mounting location of the drinking bowl with heating cable.
• The circuits used to operate a heating cable must be clearly marked in the circuit diagram and the fuse list.
• Check the functioning of the residual current circuit breaker regularly using the function key.
• Never form kinks in the heating cable. If the actual bending radius is less than the minimum of 20 mm, then the hea-
ting cable must not be installed and must be disposed of (Fig. 7).
• The heating cable jacket is designed only for contact with water, and must not come into contact with chemicals, acids
or alkalis.
• Before routing, the heating cable should be checked for any transport damage, general damage, cracks or discolourati-
ons in the heating cable jacket and on the entire device.
• Damaged heating cables must not be laid or connected to the mains.
• The heating cable must not be connected to the mains during installation.
