– The battery must not be stored within the product but
stored separately.
– Do not leave the battery in the product in direct sunlight.
– The ideal storage condition for the battery is 5 °C.
– Occasionally clean the venting slots of the battery using a
soft, clean and dry brush.
A significantly reduced working period after charging indic-
ates that the battery is used and must be replaced.
Assembly
For Your Safety
Warning! Switch off and remove battery from power
u
tool before adjusting or cleaning.
Caution! The chain is sharp. Always wear protective
u
gloves when working with the chain.
Do not operate the chain saw near other people, chil-
u
dren or animals. Do not operate the chain saw after
drinking alcohol or under the influence of intoxicating
drugs or medication.
Only use the chain saw with the cover correctly se-
u
cured with the fastening bolts (8).
Mounting the chain bar and tensioning the saw
chain (see figures B1 – B4)
Caution! Do not tension the saw chain when it is hot.
u
– Place the chain saw on a suitable level surface with the
cover (14) facing upwards.
– Remove the cover (14) by removing the two fastening
nuts (15) using the assembly tool supplied (13) .
– Hold the chain bar (11) with the nose pointing vertically
upwards and attach a new or resharpened saw chain (12)
in the correct direction (see figure B1).
– Adjust the guide pin for the chain bar (10) to the left by
rotating the chain tensioning screw (7) anti-clockwise.
Note: the chain bar will not fit to the chain saw unless the
guide pin for chain bar (10) is aligned correctly.
– Ensure that the saw chain (12) is correctly positioned in
the slot around the entire chain bar.
– Fit the saw chain around the drive sprocket (3) and slide
the chain bar (11) over the fastening bolts (8).
– Place the cover (14) over the fastening bolts (8).
– Attach the fastening nuts (15) to the fastening bolts (8)
and carefully tighten the fastening nuts (15) by hand to
secure the cover (14) . (see figure B3).
– Use the assembly tool (13) to turn the chain tensioning
screw (7) clockwise until the chain is tensioned around
the chain bar. The correct chain tension is achieved when
the saw chain (12) can be lifted approx. 6-7 mm from the
chain bar (11).
To do so, place the chain saw on a suitable level surface.
Wearing gloves, take up the saw chain at the top of the
chain bar (11), near the centre of the cutting length, and
Bosch Power Tools
lift the saw chain (12) against the weight of the chain
saw.
– If the saw chain is tensioned too tightly, turn the chain
tensioning screw (7) anti-clockwise using the assembly
tool (13) until the correct chain tension is achieved.
Note: Do not over-tension the saw chain – excessive tension
leads to excessive wear, reduces the service life of the saw
chain and can damage the chain bar.
Note: New saw chains can considerably elongate when used
for the first time. Remove the battery and check the tension
of the saw chain regularly during the first two hours of opera-
tion.
– Tighten the fastening nuts (15) using the assembly tool
(13) and attach the cover (14) to the chain saw.
– Always ensure the two fastening nuts (15) are assembled
and secured before operation.
Dismantling the saw chain and chain bar
– Place the chain saw on a suitable level surface with the
cover (14) facing upwards.
– Remove the cover (14) by removing the fastening nuts
(15) using the assembly tool supplied (13) .
– Loosen the saw chain (12) by turning the chain tension-
ing screw (7) anti-clockwise using the assembly tool
(13).
– Remove the chain bar (11) from the fastening bolts (8).
– Remove the chain from the drive sprocket.
Filling the oil reservoir (see figure C)
Note: The chain saw is not supplied filled with oil. It is essen-
tial to fill with oil before use. Operating the chain saw
without chain oil or when the oil level is below the minimum
mark will result in damage to the chain bar and saw chain.
Filling the oil reservoir:
– Set the chain saw on any suitable surface with the oil filler
cap (17) facing upward.
– Clean the area around the oil filler cap (17). Use a clean
cloth to remove any dirt.
– Unscrew the oil filler cap (17) anti-clockwise.
– Carefully fill the oil reservoir with Bosch biodegradable
chain saw oil. (Part number: F 016 800 642)
– When filling with chain saw oil, ensure that no dirt or for-
eign objects enter the oil reservoir.
– The oil filler cap (17) is attached to the chain saw. When
filling, ensure that the oil filler cap does not block the
opening of the oil reservoir.
– You can check the oil level through the oil viewing
window (18) during operation. When the minimum level
is reached, top up with new oil.
– Fit the oil filler cap (17) and tighten it.
Note: Use Bosch chainsaw oil or equivalent chain oil ap-
proved for chainsaws. Use of non-approved oil may impair
the performance of the oiling system. Use of non approved
oil will invalidate the warranty.
