6. Battery safety information

Despite the fact that handling batteries and rechargeable batteries in daily life nowadays is a
matter of fact, there are still numerous dangers and problems involved. Thus, you must observe
the following information and safety measures when handling batteries and rechargeable batteries.
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around, as they constitute a choking hazard for chil-
dren and pets. If this occurs, consult a physician immediately.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire. There is
a risk of explosion!
• If the device is not used for a longer period of time (e.g. storage), take the inserted batteries/recharge-
able batteries out of the transmitter to avoid damage from leaking batteries/rechargeable batteries. Dis-
connect the drive battery from the vehicle completely and remove it from the vehicle.
• When handling leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, always use suitable protective
gloves to avoid burning your skin.
• Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects or sur-
faces coming into contact with these liquids could be severely damaged. Always store batteries in a
suitable location that is not prone to damage.
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries. This can result in a fire or explosion! Only charge
rechargeable batteries which are intended for this purpose; use suitable rechargeable battery chargers.
• Please observe correct polarity of batteries/rechargeable batteries (note positive/+ and negative/-) when
inserting the batteries and when connecting a rechargeable drive batter.
• The type of charger you require may vary depending on the type of rechargeable battery (NiMH,
LiPo ....). Never charge e.g. LiPo batteries with a NiMH battery charger! This can result in a fire or
explosion!
• Only charge intact and undamaged batteries. If the external insulation of the rechargeable battery or the
rechargeable battery housing is damaged or if the rechargeable battery is warped or bloated, it must not
be charged. In this case, there is immediate danger of fire and explosion!
• Never charge batteries immediately after use. Always allow batteries to cool off first (at least 5 minutes).
• Always remove the drive battery from the vehicle for recharging.
• Place the drive battery for charging on a heat resistant, incombustible surface.
• The USB charger and the drive battery must not get damp or wet.
• Never use a current that is too high for the charging of the supplied drive batteries.
• The USB charger and the drive battery heat up during charging. Therefore, keep sufficient distance
between the USB charger and the drive battery, never place the drive battery on the charger. Never
cover the USB charger or the drive battery. Do not expose the USB charger or the battery to extreme
temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Never leave batteries unattended when they are charging.
• Recharge the NiMH batteries regularly (at least every 2 months), because otherwise a deep discharge
will occur as a result of a self-discharge. This will make the rechargeable batteries unusable!
• Disconnect the rechargeable battery from the USB charger when it is fully charged.
