If possible, use branches, crossbars or
wedges to support the trunk. Follow the
simple instructions to saw with ease.
If the tree trunk rests along its entire
length, as indicated in figure 10, sawing will
begin from above.
Pay attention not to penetrate the ground
when cutting.
If the log rests on one end, as in figure 11,
first saw 1/3 of its diameter starting from
the lower side (A) to prevent splintering.
Make the second cut from above (2/3 of
the diameter) at the height of the first cut
(B) (to prevent it from becoming trapped).
If the log rests on both ends, as in figure 12,
first saw 1/3 of its diameter starting from
the upper side to prevent splintering (A).
Make the second cut from below (2/3 of
the diameter) at the height of the first cut
(B) (to prevent it from becoming trapped).
When working on sloping terrain, always
stay above the trunk to be felled. To
maintain full control during felling, reduce
the pressure applied as the cut is
completed, holding the chainsaw handles
firmly at all times. Pay attention that the
saw chain does not come into contact
with the ground.
At the end of the cut, wait for the saw
chain to stop before removing the
chainsaw from the incision. Always
disconnect the chainsaw engine before
moving from one tree to another.
