EXPLANATION ON THE CORRECT
PERFORMANCE IN BASIC JOBS
Tree felling
If there are two or more people cutting
and felling at the same time, the distance
between said people must be at least
double the height of the tree being felled
(Fig.5). When felling trees, care must be
taken to ensure that no one is exposed to
a dangerous situation, that overhead
cables cannot be damaged and that no
material damage is caused. If a tree
comes into contact with an overhead
cable, the energy supply company must
be notified immediately.
When sawing on sloping terrain, the
chainsaw user must stand above the tree
to be felled, as the tree will slide or roll
downhill after felling (Fig.6).
Before felling, an emergency route must
be provided and, if necessary, cleaned
before starting. This route must lead
backwards diagonally with respect to the
planned fall line, as indicated in Fig. 7 (A=
danger zone, B= fall direction, C=
emergency exit zone).
Before felling, consider the natural
inclination of the tree, the position of the
largest branches and the direction of the
wind, in order to estimate the direction of
the tree's fall.
Remove any dirt, stones, loose bark, nails,
staples and wires on the tree.
Make the first cut of the notch (Fig.8)
Saw, at right angles to the direction of fall,
a notch (A) with a depth of 1/3 of the
diameter of the tree as indicated in figure
8. First, make the horizontal cut (1). This
prevents the saw chain or guide rail from
getting caught when making the second
cut.
