Oiling the saw chain
Cleanandoilthechainregularly.In
thisway,youkeepthechainsharp
and get optimum machine perfor-
mance.Incaseofdamagedueto
inadequate maintenance of the saw
chain,theguaranteeclaimisinva-
lid. Remove the batteries and use
cut-resistant gloves when working
with the chain or with the blade.
• Oilthechainaftercleaning,after10
hoursofuseoratleastonceweekly,
dependingonwhichcomesfirst.
• Beforeoiling,thechainbarmustbe
cleanedthoroughly,inparticularthe
teeth of the rail. Use a whisk and a dry
cloth for that.
• Oiltheindividualchainlinkswiththe
aid of an oil suction gun with pinpoint
tip(availableinthespecialisttrade).
Place individual oil drops onto the ar-
ticulated links and onto the tooth tips of
the individual chain links.

saw chain increases the
danger of spring-back!
Use cut-protection gloves
when you are handling the
chain or the chain bar.
A sharp chain guarantees an opti-
malcuttingperformance.Iteats
effortlessly through the wood and leaves
large,longwoodenchips.Asawchainis
blunt if you have to press the cutting equip-
ment through the wood and the wooden
chipsareverysmall.Inthecaseofavery
bluntsawchain,nochipcuttingsresultat
all,onlysawdust.

• Thesawingpartsofthechainarethe
cuttingelements,whichconsistofacut-
ting tooth and a depth limiting projec-
tion. The vertical separation distance
between these two determines the
sharpness depth.
• Thefollowingvaluesmustbenotedin
sharpening the cutting teeth:
- Sharpedgeangle(30°)
- Breastangle(85°)
- Apexangle(60°)
- Sharpnessdepth(0.65mm)
- Roundfilediameter(4.0mm)
Deviations from the meas-
urement data of the cutting
geometry can lead to an
increase of the spring-back
slope of the machine. In-
creased danger of accident!
Special tools are necessary for sharpening
thechain,whichguaranteethatthecutting
edges are sharpened at the correct angle
andtothecorrectdepth.Fortheinexperi-
enceduserofchainsaws,werecommend
to have the saw chain sharpened by a spe-
cialistoraspecialistworkshop.Ifyouare
familiarwiththesharpeningofthechain,
youcanpurchasethetools,forexample
fromParkside(e.g.chainsharpener).
1. Remove the saw chain (refer to the
sectiononoperatingthesaw).The
chain should be well-tensioned to
ensure proper sharpening.
2. Forthesharpening,aroundfilewith
4.0 mmdiameterisnecessary.
Other diameters damage the
chain and can lead to danger
during work!
