Operating modes of the balancer

Balances in single mode

(status display lights up at regular intervals briefly, once per second.)
This means equalising the cell voltage without connection to the charger.
The balancer idenfies cells with deviating voltage and balances them with targeted discharging. (This is
displayed through assigned light display). If the voltage difference to the cell with the lowest voltage is too
high, the display is always light, while it starts flashing when approaching the target voltage.
If no connection to the charger is established, the balancer switches off after ending the balancing process
which is previously displayed by flashing three times at one-second intervals of the status display.
If the voltages or capacities of the battery's cells differ too greatly, the balancing
procedure is not possible.
Cells below 3.0V are not further discharged for safety reasons. If a cell drops to 2.7V, the user is request-
ed for another 15 seconds to start the charging procedure (status display flashes five times per second).
if this does not happen, the procedure is cancelled and the balancer switches off automatically. This pre-
vents any damage to the battery due to deep discharge. If this happens, a battery should be charged as
soon as possible.

Charging with balances

(status display lights continuously)
The balancer is operated in this mode together with a LiPo charger and establishes the connection
between charger and battery pack. („connecting mode")
The switch from single mode to this operating mode is made by pressing once and then letting go of the
„POWER ON / MODE" key. By pressing the key again, the connection can be ended and single mode
restarted.
Avoid establishing and ending the connection to the charger several times over
a short period of time, as this can result in damage to the charger.
After establishing the connection, charging on the charger can be started. The balancer equalises the
cell voltages to one another.
If the voltage of a cell exceeds 4.22V due to a wrong cell selection, for instance, the connection to the
charger is ended. Only when all cells are again below this value and equalised, the connection is again
automatically established. Depending on the charger, it may be necessary to restart charging.
If charging is complete (display on the charger), the balancer can be disconnected from the charger using
the „POWER ON / MODE" key. In the „connected" status, the balancer cannot switch to standby mode. If
all voltage differences between the cells are equalised, the balancer switches to the standby mode after
flashing the status display three times. Balancing is otherwise continued in single mode.
