Procedure
1. Place the dressing set with the flap facing up on the work surface. Carefully unfold the blue drape.
Leave the contained items on the drape.
The items in the dressing set are sterile and must not come into contact with non-sterile objects.

2. Pick up the gloves at the opening and put them on as illustrated. Both gloves are suitbale for
either hand. Make sure that the gloves do not come into contact with non-sterile objects e.g. skin
or clothing.
2.1. Tear open the alcohol wipe sachet but do not take the wipe out. Open the sachets so that
these can be placed on the safety valve later on. Place the opened alcohol wipe sachets
back on the edge of the blue drape.
3. Remove the drainova® Silicone Cap or the PleurX™ Protective Cap:
Using the drainova® Silicone Cap:
•
Firmly hold the safety valve of the catheter and carefully remove the drainova® Silicone
Cap. Dispose of the cap.
• Using the PleurX™ Protective Cap:
Firmly hold the safety valve of the catheter, rotate the PleurX™ Protective Cap anticlockwi-
se and carefully remove. Dispose of the cap.
