General safety regulations and measures
•
The owner and users of the plant / machine on which the safety relay is being used are
responsible for the implementation and observance of all applicable safety regulations and
rules.
•
When used in conjunction with the higher-order control unit, the safety relay guarantees functional
safety but not the safety of the entire plant / machine. The safety of the entire plant / machine
must therefore be assessed in accordance with EN 13241-1, "Industrial, commercial and garage
doors and gates", before using the device.
•
The operating instructions must always be available at the safety equipment's place of use.
They must be read thoroughly and observed by all persons involved in the operation, maintenance
and servicing of the safety equipment.
•
The safety equipment must only be installed and commissioned by specialised personnel who
is familiar with these operating instructions and the relevant occupational health, safety and
accident prevention regulations. All of the instructions provided in these operating instructions
must be observed and adhered to.
•
All work on electrical components must only be performed by qualified electricians.
•
All relevant electrical engineering and Employers Liability Insurance safety regulations must be
observed.
•
The switching device must always be disconnected from the power supply and checked for
zero-potential before working on it.
•
If the potential-free contacts of the safety switch are charged with a dangerous voltage from an
external source it must be ensured that this is also turned off before commencing work on the
switching device.
•
The switching device does not contain any components that require servicing by the user.
Unauthorised modifications and repairs made to the switching device will void all warranties and
the manufacturer's liability.

The plant must be inspected at least 1x year by an expert to ensure the safety
system's compliance with EN 12453 "Safety in Use of Power Operated Doors -
Requirements" and EN 12978 "Safety devices for power operated doors and gates".
The inspection must be documented in such a way as to be reproducible.
