Limiting chain and automatic release
6.4.1 Limiting chain
The position of limiting chain (2) is between the upper crossbar of the device and the automatic release
(1). This limiting chain (2) avoid that the rubber grippers (without gripping good) can not close complete
(minimal opening range).
•
When driving very fast over uneven ground with the lifting machine (excavator), having the Scissor
Grab SG hanging on the open position on the lifting arm, the SG will "jump" up and down.
•
In this case, it could happen, that the automatic release (1) will accidently be unhocked, the SG will
close until the limiting chain (2) will stop the movement of the grippers towards one another at a
certain distance.
•
Due to the high dynamic forces in such an unlikely case, the limiting chain (2) and/or the fixing
screws can be overloaded.
•
Therefore the limiting chain (see 2 in Ill. A) and the fixing screws (see A1 and A2 in Ill. A) have to
be exchanged in such a case, also the correct function of the rotation break (Ill. E) must be
checked (see Ill. F, G, H).
•
Order-No. for spare part-limiting chain and rotation break see spare parts list.
•
Before any further initial operation the complete assembly group (Ill. B +C) have to be
checked for sign of wears (damages).
•
If damages are noted, the complete assembly group (Ill. B + C) have to be exchanged!!!
•
In addition a function test of the rotation break must be done (see Ill. F, G, H). If necessary
exchanged the rotation break.
The operation of the device (SG) with a damaged / broken limiting chain is strictly forbidden!
Danger to life!!!

Mount the spare part limiting chain (2) as shown in Ill.
A. and Ill. C. The Ill. D shows the scissor grab with
stressed limiting chain.
