heating for Trumatic
S 3002 (P), S 5002
and S 55 T heaters
Installation
instructions
The appliance may only
be installed and repaired
by an expert. Before
starting work, carefully read
and follow the installation
instructions!
Purpose
The Truma-Ultraheat supple-
mentary heating unit was
designed in the formats with
Art. no. 30402-01 to 07 for
the heating units Trumatic
S 3002 (P) as from date of
manufacture 07/81, Trumatic
S 5002 as from 04/98 (with
new semi-circular cladding)
and in the design formats with
Art. no. 30402-08 to 14 for
the Trumatic S 55 T heater.
Use with Trumatic S 3000 P,
S 3002 K, S 5002 K and
Trumatic S 5002 up to
model 04/98 (with old rec-
tangular cover) is not per-
missible. Other applications
are permissible only after
consulting Truma.
Approval
Declaration of conformity:
The Truma-Ultraheat has
been tested by the DVGW
(German Association of Gas
and Water Experts) as an ad-
ditional electric heating unit
and complies with EC Stan-
dard 90/396 for gas appli-
ances, EC EMC standard
89/336, EC 73/23 low voltage
standard as well as other ap-
plicable EC standards and is
authorized to bear the CE
sign.
The CE Product Identity
Number of the heating sys-
tem remains valid without
change.
Regulations
Any modifications to the ap-
pliance or the use of spare
parts and accessories impor-
tant for operation which are
not original Truma parts, or
non-observance of the in-
structions for installation and
use will result in the guaran-
tee becoming invalid and no
liability will be assumed. Fur-
thermore, the approval for
operating the appliance will
become invalid and in some
countries also the approval
for operating the vehicle.
Installation in
new vehicles
1. Fig. A: Break out perforat-
ed section (1) on the exterior
of installation box (2) for
passing through the control
electronics.
Trumatic S 5002 only:
Break out the lower part of
the interior of installation box
(3) at perforation (4).
2. Insert heating element (5)
from the inside of installation
box (2) and fasten by means of
six B 3.5 x 9.5 mm screws (6).
3. Install installation box (2),
installation box (3) and
Trumavent fan as per installa-
tion instructions included
with the heater.
If connected in series, a
mounting and holding
device is of advantage.
Carry out further installation
work in accordance with the
installation instructions en-
closed with the heater.
Retrofitting in
existing vehicles
Dismantling heater
1. Shut the fast-acting stop
valves on the gas supply and
gas cylinder.
2. Remove the heater cover.
3. Fig. B: Unscrew gas
supply (7) underneath the
vehicle.
4. Fig. B: Loosen exhaust
duct sealing plate (8) by
means of screw (9) and turn
to detach. Pull exhaust duct
(10) completely out of the
sleeve.
5. Fig. B: Unscrew locking
screws (11) on the heater
base and remove the heater
completely.
6. Fig. C: Unscrew locking
screws (12) on installation
box (2) and remove the latter.
Preparatory work
and installation
boxes
For S 3002 (P) up to
model 05/98 only
1. Fig. C: Position the en-
closed stencil in the middle
of the installation box interior
so that the lower edge of the
stencil is flush with the upper
edge of the recess (14) in the
installation box. Mark the six
holes for the fastening
screws and the corner points
for the control electronics
lead-through. Drill eight holes
with a diameter of 4 mm.
2. Create an opening (1) for
the control electronics by cut-
ting into the side (with sheet-
cutting shears) and then
bending back to the rear wall.
For S 3002 (P) from
model 05/98, S 5002
and S 55 T only

box and break out the lower
section of installation box in-
terior (3) at perforation (4).
Installing the
heating element
1. Fig. A: Insert heating ele-
ment (5) from the inside of in-
stallation box (2) and fasten
from the rear with six
B 3.5 x 9.5 mm screws (6).
2. Reinsert complete installa-
tion box (2) and secure with
six screws (12).
Installing heater
1. Fig. B: Position the heater
in the base cut-out and re-
fasten with the five locking
screws (11).
2. Connecting the exhaust
duct to the heater:
Fig. F: The Biege-Boy
(Art. no. 30030-33000) is a
substantial help when bend-
ing the stainless steel exhaust
duct and fitting the O-ring.
Fig. D + E: Replace O-ring
(16) with the enclosed O-ring.
The enclosed
53 x 5 mm O-Ring
may only be used with
heaters from model 01/88
onwards. The 35 x 5 mm
O-ring (Art. no. 10030-
25000) must be used for
older heaters. In this case
consult your specialist
dealer!
Push sealing plate (8) about
3 cm onto the exhaust duct
(claw must point to the
sleeve on the heater). Insert
thrust collar (17). Stretch
O-ring (16) and carefully in-
sert over the cut end of the
duct and push the exhaust
duct into the sleeve as far as
it will go.
Push the O-ring, the thrust
collar and the sealing plate
up to the sleeve. Attach seal-
ing plate (8) by turning and
tighten with screw (9).
3. Fig. B: Screw gas supply
line (7) back on beneath the
vehicle.
4. Affix the enclosed name-
plate to the inside of the
heater cover.
5. Reattach heating cover.
Installation of the
control panel
When using operating
elements which are
specific to the vehicle or the
manufacturer, the electrical
connection must be estab-
lished in accordance with the
Truma interface descriptions.
Any modification made to the
Truma components pertain-
ing to this will lead to the in-
validation of the guarantee,
as well as to the exclusion of
any claims for liability. The in-
staller (manufacturer) is re-
sponsible for providing in-
structions for use for the user
as well as for identification
printing on the control panels.
In selecting a location, make
sure that neither the front nor
the back of the control panel
will be exposed to direct
heat.
Length of connection cable
3 m. If required, a cable
extension of 5 m in length is
available (which in combina-
tion can be extended to 8 m
– Art. no. 34300-01).
