Chapt. 6 LOGIC-SAFE (Electronic device that protects the electrical pump) models
MULTIMAX 4 -5S LOGIC-SAFE
Multimax 4s and Multimax 5s pumps are itted with an integrated electronic device, LOGIC SAFE, that controls the
electric parameters of the electropump and the water temperature, by registering the difference between the pre-set
values and those generated by dry running, motor overload and water over-temperature anomalies
Pannello di controllo (ig.A)
Green LED light on: "Power-on" Pump connected to the power supply
Yellow LED light on "Pump-on" Pump running
Yellow LED light on "Pump-on" Pump running and the device has registered the
"dry running" anomaly. If the anomaly lasts it generates the deinitive alarm (red blinking led).
Red LED light "Failure" motor overload
RED blinking led "Failure": dry running or water overtemperature
Green Led "Restart": reset after anomaly
Dry running
The pump will stop in case of dry-running.
The parameters has been tuned according with the pump characteristics.
Note: just a dry-running condition is preliminary identiied the yellow "Pump on" LED begins to blink. If this condition
lasts a fault dry-running condition is generated.
This fault will be indicated by the blinking red LED "Failure".
To restore the device press the green "Restart" button.
Overload
The pump will stop in case of an overload (abnormal absorbed current).
When the absorbed current exceeding the nominal value of the pump, the device will stop the pump and protect it
from power surges.
This fault will be indicated by the steady red LED "Failure".
To restore the device press the green "Restart" button.
Overtemperature
The pump will stop when the water temperature exceeds a ixed critical value
This fault will be indicated by the blinking red LED "Failure".
In this case it is necessary to wait for it to cool before resuming use.
To restore the device press the green "Restart" button.
Resect functions
Removing the cause of the anomaly (chapt. 7)
Press the RESTART button to restart the equipment and the system as normal. If the power is cut off, the
machine will automatically be restored to a serviceable condition when it returns.
Ch. 7 Adjustment of the pressure switch
The pressure switch of BOOSTER SETS FLOTEC is pre-set by the manufacturer at 2 bar for the start-up pressure and
at 3 bar for the pressure required to stop the pump. According to the manufacturer's experience, these are the most
suitable values for the vast majority of installations.
To modify these settings, please contact a qualiied electrician.
Ch. 8 Use of the booster set with pre-cleaner
If the booster set is itted with a pre-cleaner, follow the directions below. Before performing maintenance operations, disconnect
the pump from the mains.
Before cleaning and replacing the ilter cartridge, disconnect the pump from the mains.
Then, open the pressure discharge valve on the upper section of the ilter head in order to depressurise the system. The same
effect can be attained by opening the cut-off valve on the delivery pipe (i.e. the water cock). Turn the collar below the ilter head
clockwise (looking at the pump from the bottom). The ilter container can be removed only from the bottom in order to allow the
cartridge to be disassembled.
To reassemble the components, perform the operations described above in inverse sequence. Before performing the assembly
operation, check that the O-ring on the pressure discharge screw and on the ilter housing is not damaged or dirty, cleaning or
replacing it if necessary. Before the assembly, wet the O-ring with water.
At this point, the booster set can be started. To facilitate these operations, it is advisable to install a cut-off valve upstream from the ilter.
Ch. 9 Maintenance and troubleshooting
DANGER
Electric shock
risk
In ordinary conditions, BOOSTER SETS FLOTEC do not require any maintenance. To prevent possible problems, it is advisable to
periodically check the pressure supplied and current absorption. A reduction of the pressure may indicate that the electropump is worn.
Sand and other corrosive materials present in the delivery luid cause a rapid wear and a reduction of performance. In this case, it is
advisable to use a ilter and select an appropriate ilter cartridge according
to the application. An increase in current absorption indicates the presence of abnormal mechanical friction in the pump and/or the motor.
Make sure the machine is disconnected from electric power supply,
before performing maintenance operation.
