5.2 Device features
• Wall fans with nominal diameters Ø 200 - 600
mm.
• Any installation position can be selected. Air ex-
traction or ventilation, depending on installation
position.
• Switch on/off with optional switch.
• Speed controllable asynchronous motor. Ex-
ception: DZQ 40/2 B and DZS 40/2 B motors
not speed controllable.
5.3 Thermal overload protection
EZQ../EZS.. with integrated motor protection
switch. This switches the fan off in case of over-
heating/overload.
WARNING! After a malfunction, the fan can
restart automatically.
DZQ../DZS..B devices with thermal contacts con-
nected to terminals. Connection to external con-
trol device with automatic, latching switch-off re-
quired, e.g. Maico MV 25. This automatically
switches the fan off in the event of overload/over-
heating. Before restarting, wait until the motor and
temperature limiter have cooled down (cooling
time up to 30 minutes). Only switch fan on after
this.
WARNING! DZQ 25/4 D, DZS 25/4 D and pole-
changeable units do not have thermal over-
load protection.WARNING! A motor protec-
tion switch must be provided by the customer
for these units.

7 Transport, storage
WARNING! Observe the enclosed safety in-
struction sheet for industrial fans. Only attach
transport equipment (cables, chains etc.) to the
square wall plate (EZQ../DZQ..) or to the steel
wall ring (EZS../DZS..). Observe the centre of
gravity (middle) during transport. Observe the
maximum permitted loading capacity for lifting
gear and transport equipment. Use personal pro-
tective equipment.
CAUTION! Wear protective gloves to prevent
cuts caused by sharp-edged housing plates.
Persons must not walk under suspended loads.
Only store fan vertically and dry (-20 °C to +60
°C). Avoid storage periods that are too long. Re-
commendation: store for a max. of 1 year. Before
installation, check that the moving parts (impeller)
can move freely.
8 Installation instructions
• Observe permissible load-bearing capacity of
wall/ceiling/bracket and installation position.
• Create flat support surface for wall plate/steel
wall ring.
• Lay the power cable to the installation site.
• The customer must provide suitable mounting
material (strength class 8.8) which is sufficiently
dimensioned to support the basic unit.
• Ensure sufficient supply air intake.
• Use Maico ELA.. flexible cuffs for duct connec-
tion.
• If using an extension sleeve (VH), install the fan
with mounted extension sleeve.
• Select installation site where foreign bodies will
not be accidentally drawn in.
• To avoid sound bridges with the structure, ob-
serve distances from other façade components
and, if necessary, use isolating elements.
