calculus
(calculus detection)
Detection is possible only with the PerioSonic handpiece
and with a SIROPERIO 4 PS or SIROPERIO PE8 tip
inserted.
Detection:
The physical vibration patterns of the ultrasound tip are
analyzed and the contacted tooth surface is thus
detected. The substance or material of the tooth being
examined, and not the surface structure, is detected
here.
The detection mode is automatically activated as soon
as the PerioSonic handpiece is removed from its holder
on the PerioScan.
If the software detects a root surface, green light is dis-
played on the signal ring. If it detects calculus, blue light
is displayed on the signal ring.
Analogously, a green tooth appears on the PerioScan
display with a root surface and a blue tooth appears with
calculus.
In addition to this, a signal tone which sounds as soon as
calculus has been detected (blue display) can be acti-
vated in the signal mode. You can switch to the signal
mode by simultaneously pressing the "Small rinsing
media tank" and "PERIO 1" keys. The signal tone can
be switched to calculus detection here via the "PERIO 1"
key. This tone can be set to 2 different volume levels:
50 % key – quiet signal tone
100 % key – loud signal tone
You can quit the signal mode by simultaneously press-
ing the "Small rinsing media tank" and "PERIO 1" keys
once again. This signal tone can also be set so that it
sounds as soon as the distal end of the tip is no longer
in contact with the root surface. If this were the case, nei-
ther the detection nor the removal of calculus would be
possible. You can switch to the signal mode by simulta-
neously pressing the "Small rinsing media tank" and
"PERIO 1" keys. The signal tone can then be set to "air"
(i.e. noncontact of the end of the tip on the root surface)
and saved here with the "PERIO 2" key. A "doctoral cap"
then appears to the left of the "Power" display. This tone
can be set to 2 different volume levels:
50 % key – quiet signal tone
100 % key – loud signal tone
You can quit the signal mode by simultaneously press-
ing the "Small rinsing media tank" and "PERIO 1" keys
once again.
As soon as the foot switch is actuated for milling, the
detection mode is deactivated. When the foot switch is
released, the detection mode is automatically reacti-
vated.
