2. 1 2 Adjusting the
(see Fig. 3)
When the start key i s depressed, the driving
d i s k (A) which formerly was h e l d back, i s re
l e ased through the s l id i n g control member
(D) and the c lutch l i fter ring (E). The c l utch
springs press the driving d i s k (A) a g a i n st the
s m a l l e r cone of the friction wheel (B). The
friction between the driving wheel (A) and
the cone o f the friction wheel (B) c a n now
be adjusted by bending the l u g (F) of the
s l i d i n g control member ( D) i n the d i rection of
the a rrows. Release the start key and depress
the fast forward key. Upon t h i s , there must

not be any frictional engagement left be
tween the drivi ng d i s k (A) a n d the cone of
the friction wheel (B) . There must be a c l e ar
ance of at least 0.5 mm (approx. 0.02 " ) . The
adjustment of the r i g h t hand c l u tch is per
fect if the turnta b l e drum starts rotating when
the start key is depressed o n ly two t h i rds.
Finally the short-ci rcuit contact (K 5) m ust
be adjusted a ccord ing to paragraph 4.2 .

Tensions
Left-hand c lutch (see Fig. 4):
Switch off the recorder and depress the start
key. Place on the left-hand turntable a 5 inch

reel with
hub d iameter of 45 m m (approx.

1 .8") on wh i ch approximately 20" of tape are
wound. Hook a spring balance i nto the looped
free e n d of the tape and pull off the b a l a nce.

R i g h t hand c lutch (see Fig. 4):
Place on the r i g ht hand turntable a 5-inch
re e l with a hub d i ameter of 45 m m (approx.
1 .8") o n w h i ch a pproxi mately 2 0 " of tape are
wound. Hook the spring b a l a nce i nto the
looped free end of the tape, switch on the
record e r a n d depress the start key. H o l d the
spring b a l a nce in place.
When the spring b a l a nce i s held i n p l ace,
the turnta b l e drum i s braked down and will
come to a standsti l l. Now move the spring
b a l a nc e s l owly i n the moving d i rection of the
tape until the turnta b l e drum starts rotating.
At th i s moment the s p ri n g balance w i l l i n d i
cate the w i n d i ng tension.
Desired value: 23 ± 3 grams

If the desired values cannot be atta ined, first
check whether the fe l t rings o n the c l u tch
d isks are worn or so iled. The l i ni n g s on the

Deconnecter le magnetophone et e nfoncer l a
touche
monter une bobine g a r n i e d ' u n e longueur de
bande (1 3 cm) de 50 cm e nviro n (dia metre du
noyau 45 mm). Suspe ndre un pese ressort a
l ' extremite l i bre de la bande et l ' et i rer.
