4.62 Adjustment
When the relay i s not energized, the c ontact
(rei . a ) must be closed. When the armature
of the re lay i s attracted , it must be open.
However, it m u s t not open before the arma
ture has traveled two third s of its path.
Otherwise the force of the l o ck winding w i l l
n o t yet be suffic i e ntly strong. T h e adjustment
i s made by bend i n g the backing strip u nder
n eath the contact springs. When the c o ntact
i s open, the c l earance betwee n the contact
p o i nts must be approximately 0 . 1 m m (0.004 " ) .
