back and leg sections) should be avoided (see also fi gure page 23).
Sitting on an angled back section can cause considerable damage
and is therefore not permissible. Any manner of use not described
in these Operating Instructions is not considered to be proper use
and is therefore not permissible. Please ask the hülsta Service team
before using the unit if you are unsure. Electrical articles should not
be opened - danger to life! The motor-driven BOXSPRING unit is not
meant for long-term uninterrupted use. The maximum switched-on
time is 2 minutes, after this a pause of at least 10 minutes should be
observed. (Another example: the switch on time is 1 minute, minimum
pause afterwards at least 5 minutes).
The innovative character of a product is often recognisable by its
corresponding and characteristic smell which is specifi c to the
materials in use. As is known from existing examinations, this is
absolutely harmless and disappears after a short time. Mattresses,
BOXSPRING and Topper units are manufactured in accordance with
the guidelines of DIN/EN 1334 (Sizes and Tolerances for Beds and
Mattresses) and generally correspond to the nominal size of the bed.
Tolerance for nominal size of BOXSPRING (BOX and mattress): width
and length +/- 20 mm, thickness +/- 10 mm or 10%, depending on
which value is lower. Tolerance for nominal size of BOXSPRING inside:
+/- 20 mm in length and width. Tolerance for nominal size of mattress/
Topper for BOXSPRING inside (bed): +/- 20 mm in length and width,
thickness +/- 10 mm or 10%, depending on which value is lower.
hülsta BOXSPRING components consist of fl exible materials because
only they can achieve the desired and unique surface characteristics.
Some deviations in size may occur in the length and width of these
special mattresses during transport or in certain storage situations.
However, the mattress generally regains its original size without any
negative eff ects on its quality after a short period of use in the bed. In
the case of mattresses with removable covers, you may also remove
the core and shake it slightly if required. In most cases this is an easy
way to regain the nominal size of the mattress. The ability of your hülsta
mattress to adapt to the person's individual physique is one of its key
features. This might lead to the formation of a slight hollow in the
surface of the mattress, e.g. in the hip region, doing the introductory
period of use as the fi ne upholstery layers are compressed to some
extent. The volume of the fi ne upholstery and therefore the height
of the mattress may decrease slightly in the course of its use. Nor
can "signs of use" in the course of time ever be fully avoided in the
case of mattress versions with furniture fabrics. This type of alteration
in the mattress surface is a natural process, its extent depends on
the material used and it does not deduct from the good surface and
climatic properties of your hülsta mattress. Basically we recommend
replacing the mattresses and Topper units after 7 to 10 years at the
latest for hygienic and therefore health reasons.

2. Functions of a hülsta motor-driven BOXSPRING unit
Motor-driven hülsta BOXSPRING:
We have made every eff ort to manufacture a high-quality and
multifunctional motor-driven BOXSPRING unit for you. We hope that
you enjoy using it.
 These Assembly Instructions should be read thoroughly before
beginning any work on or with the unit, particularly before setting it up!
The manufacturer cannot accept any liability for damage or disruption
resulting from failure to observe the Assembly Instructions.
The surface comfort of a BOXSPRING unit depends to a large extent of
the mattress. The spring features of a hülsta motor-driven BOXSPRING
unit are what create the really special feeling when lying on it. The
motor-driven adjustable sections ensure great comfort in the use of a
hülsta BOXSPRING unit. They provide comfortable sitting and relaxing
positions, whenever you want. Wellness at home!
The motor-driven BOXSPRING unit should be protected fully against
moisture and must not be subjected to direct sunlight for longer
periods of time.

2.1 Adjustable sections

You can set the back and/or leg sections of your hülsta motor-driven
BOXSPRING unit to an angle via a separate motor (2 motors in all) (fi g.
1). Each section can be raised individually, the lower leg section angles
itself in the vicinity of the knee for sitting and relaxing, and if required
for relieving pressure on the back. This means that the knee joint is
ergonomically supported and there is a relief of pressure on the heels.
In Box widths up to 100 cm a drive with 8000N power is used, maximum
load up to 200 kg. In Box widths of 120 + 140 cm a drive with 10000N
is used, maximum load up to 240 kg.

2.2 Setting up

Please compare your mains voltage with the permissible input voltage
stated on the nameplate of the transformer before connecting the
electric drive to the mains electricity.
Important: Voltage and permissible input voltage on the nameplate
must be identical. If not, the drive must not be connected – in this case
please contact your hülsta Service team.
Connect the power adapter with the plug on the motor.
Connect the power adapter to the mains source. fi g. 2/p. 23

2.3 Cable operation

The hand switch is connected directly to the motor in the jack for the
control system (6-pin plug – fi g. 3/p. 6). Fit the strain relief device acc.
to fi g. 4/p. 6. Cable/handswitch operation see fi g. 7/p. 25.
2.3.1 Setting up
Check to see if the plug for the handswitch is connected.
