Coaster brake
WARNING: in addition to the V-brakes at the front and
rear, this model is equipped with coaster brakes. To
brake, pedalling backwards results in a braking of the
rear wheel.
Please note, in case of high speed, back pedalling can
cause the rear wheel to lock and cause a fall.
•
Avoid continuously applying the coaster brake on long
descents: the internal parts of the brake can then heat up
considerably, which could weaken braking performance. If the
coaster brake is used frequently, the area around the brake may
become hot. Wait for it to cool before touching it.
•
Spin the wheel and check that the braking force of the brake is
correct.
WARNING: In rain or damp weather, braking distances
are longer. It is recommended to pre-empt your braking
in this situation.
When cornering and braking, the handlebars can have
a negative influence on the response time of the
cyclist.
V-Brake adjustment
The pads exert pressure directly on the rim of the wheel. The intensity
of the pressure is controlled by a lever connected to the brake by a
cable. Do not operate the brake lever when the wheel is detached from
the frame.
•
Position the caliper arms vertically and parallel using the correct
cable tension. Once the cable position has been defined,
tighten the cable with the appropriate screw.
