The charging time for a new battery is determined by
the number of months that have elapsed since the
date of manufacture.

Date of manufacture is indicated by a three-part
number, each indicating month, date and year shown
at A in the photograph.
Near the end of charging period, adjust the specific
gravity of electrolyte to value specified. After charg-
ing, adjust the electrolyte level to the UPPER LEVEL
with DISTILLED WATER.
Install the battery terminal holder to the battery termi-
nal.

After charging the battery, install the battery in the
vehicle as follows.
1. First connect the + + + + lead to the + + + + positive terminal
of the battery.
2. Cover + + + + terminal with rubber boot.
3. Connect the - - - - lead to the - - - - negative terminal of
the battery.
4. Install the battery with rubber band.

B: - lead

Connect the battery breather hose to the bat-
tery and confirm that the hose is routed as
shown in the figure.
