Appliance-specific safety instructions

Before operating the appliance
Provide the following before operating the appliance:
Correct assembly of all pieces of the appliance
Light running of all switches
Safe fitting of the socket plug. If the plug is loose,
sparks may be produced and the created fuel and air
mixture may get ignited.
Never use the power chain pruning saw if the handle
or saw is damaged, wrongly adjusted or not fitted
perfectly and safely or when the saw starter does not
work. The chain must stop after the starter is
released. Have any defective switches replaced in an
authorised service centre.
Never use the power chain pruning saw when there is
a strong wind or storm.
Watch out for falling branches. Check the tree before
pruning. Make some space for falling branches and
watch the direction of the falling branches.
Do not use the appliance to cut shoots or bushes.
Do not work with the saw near flammable liquids or
gases.
Any defective chains must be immediately replaced.
Keep the tools sharp and clean – they will work better
and safer in this condition.

When operating the appliance
Wear protective glasses/shield, helmet, hearing
protection, working clothing and gloves when working with
the appliance.
Work only with safety shoes with steel toes/sole and long
trousers, never barefooted or in sandals.
Provide adequate distance from persons, children
and animals.
Hold the appliance firmly by the handle and extension
tube. Secure the appliance with the shoulder strap.
Provide safe posture.
Caution! Prevent backlash!
Backlash may cause severe injuries.
Do not work with the power chain pruning saw on trees,
ladder or other objects. Safe posture must be provided!
Never touch the rotating saw chain.
Long use of a power appliance may lead to poor blood
circulation in hands as a result of vibrations. This can be
prevented by wearing suitable gloves and taking regular
breaks.
Make sure the engine ventilation slots are always clean
and with no undesirable particles.
Watch out for falling branches, etc. when
working with the pruning saw.
Wait until the appliance fully stops before touching
it.
Never use the appliance in closed rooms.
Do not use the pruning saw to cut shoots or bushes.
Do not use the pruning saw near electric and
telephone cables. Keep minimum distance of 10 m from
all electric cables, etc. Follow the local regulations.
Behaviour in case of emergency
Provide necessary first aid treatment corresponding to the
injury nature and seek qualified medical help as soon as
possible. Protect the injured person from other injuries and
calm him/her down.
First aid kit must always be available in the place of
your work in case of accident in accordance with DIN
13164. Material taken out of the first aid kit needs to be
supplemented right away.
