Function Description

Switchable Gain

The multi-range model provides two rotary switches for calibrated selection
of the measuring range and the output voltage range. Microcontrollers in
the transducer detect the switch positions of the two rotary switches (S1
and S2) and convert them into corresponding control signals for the cali-
brated gain ranges or cutoff frequencies. Microcontrollers monitor the trans-
ducer functions. For measurements with clearly defined measuring ranges,
fixed-range models without rotary switches are available.

Switchable Cutoff Frequency

Depending on the product variant, the rotary switches can be used to config-
ure the cutoff frequency, and hence the settling time of the analog output
signal.

Broad-Range Power Supply

The transducers of the ProLine product line provide a broad-range power sup-
ply that can be operated with direct or alternating current over a large voltage
range. It allows the transducer to be supplied directly from the accumulator
battery, for example.

Diagnostic Functions

The transducers provide an internal diagnostic function:
• In the event of a fault, the analog output signal (measurement signal)
is set to a defined value (see page 72).
• In the event of a fault, the floating relay output opens. This sends a signal
to a downstream controller (e.g., a safety device or PLC, see page 77).
The signal levels are based on PLC signal inputs of Type 1, EN 61131-2.
• An LED lights red to indicate a device error (see page 66).
Monitoring the Input Circuit – Shunt Monitoring
• For P51*00 transducers only
With shunt monitoring activated, a line break between shunt resistor and
input can be recognized. To indicate a line break, the analog output signal is
set to a defined value (see page 72).
