4.4.5 Replacing the inhalation valve
P 1. Press the button on the connector.
P 1. Pull the inhalation valve out of the connector.
RA Take care not to damage the connector.
PE
1. To remove the valve seat, position an O-ring extractor un-
der the edge of the valve seat.
ESA
Take care not to damage the connector. Do not use pliers
to pull the valve seat ribs.
2. The valve disc and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean or
replace if necessary.
3. Insert the inhalation valve in the facepiece.
4.4.6 Replacing valve discs for the nose cup valves
Valve discs and seats must be clean and undamaged; otherwise
clean or replace the valve discs.
4.4.7 Replacing the connector
1. Unbutton the inner mask.
2. Unhook the cap on both sides from the lens frame (Figure F1-1 on
page 3).
3. Use your thumbs to press against the bottom part of the cap and
remove it from the fastening lugs (Figure F1-2 on page 3).
4. Pull the cap up from the facepiece.
5. Use a screw driver to pry open the clip, then remove it.
6. Pull out the old connector.
7. Align the new connector and the centre marking before inserting
and make sure that it fits properly.
8. Align and mount new clip: Attach the hook to ensure the tightest
possible fit of the clip. Compress the nose on the connector clamp
using type R 53 239 pliers until the facepiece connector is secure-
ly located in the mask body.

9. Put the cap on the connector, lock it into place on the fastening
lugs and hook it into the lens frame.
NOTICE

Depending on the facepiece, the recess for the connector can
vary.
Make sure that the following caps are used:
for facepieces P and RA: cap R 56 278
for facepieces PE and ESA: cap R 56 378
10. Press the inner mask back into place.

Replacing the head harness

A hair net can also be used instead of the head harness. The
hair net has the same clips as the head harness.
Replace head harness as described below (Figure J1 on page 3):
1. Pull the head harness away from the strap on the mask.
2. Push the clip on the head harness towards the visor.
Attach head harness to the mask as described below (Figure J2 on
page 3):
Put the clip onto the strap of the mask, then press the fastener.
Make sure that the tab on the strap locks firmly into the hole of the
clip.

Transport

Transport the facepiece in the associated carrying box, carrying bag or
in its original packaging.
