(3) Leak test under water
1. Immerse the test head including the facepiece with exhalation
valve test plug in the water.
2. Produce a positive pressure of approx. 10 mbar.
3. Slowly turn the test head under the water surface. Emerging bub-
bles indicate leaks.
4. Take the test head with the facepiece out of the water, repair the
facepiece or replace leaking components.
5. Remove the exhalation valve test plug
6. and install the exhalation valve.
7. Repeat the leak test (1).
Checking the opening pressure of the exhalation valve
The opening pressure must be at least 4.2 mbar at a constant
flow of 10 l/min. If this opening pressure is not reached, turn
PE
the valve disc to remove dust particles or the like between the
ESA
crater and the valve disc. Repeat the test. If the opening pres-
P
sure is still not reached, replace the spring (Figure A3-27 on
page 3) and repeat the test.
After testing
1. Disconnect the adapter.
2. Remove the facepiece from the test head and dry it, if necessary.
3. Fit the exhalation valve cover so that it clicks into place.

Maintenance work
1. Check all parts for deformation and damage and replace them, if
necessary.
CAUTION
!
Neither tighten nor remove the nut at the ball joint of the
mask/helmet adapter. Otherwise, the function of the mask/
helmet adapter will be impaired.
Both mask/helmet adapters can have a different moveability
in the ball joint which will not impair their functionality.
NOTICE

During maintenance work, the exhalation valve cover can
break away from the cap (Figure A1-10 and 11 on page 3).
The exhalation valve cover can simply be hooked back into
the cap.
2. After maintenance work and/or replacement of components again
check the leak tightness.
4.4.1

2. Use your thumbs to press against the bottom part of the cap and
remove it from the fastening lugs (Figure F1-2 on page 3).
