Replacing the exhalation valve disc (P-type connector)
1. Open the exhalation valve cover.
2. Pull the straight arm of the spring holder outwards and remove the
spring holder (Figure I on page 263).
3. Remove the valve disc.
4. The valve disc and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean or
replace if necessary.
5. Mount the valve disc.
6. Put the spring onto the center of the valve disc, insert the bent arm,
and lock both arms of the spring holder into place.
7. Close the exhalation valve cover.

Replacing the inhalation valve (RA-type connector)
1. Pull the inhalation valve out of the connector.
Take care not to damage the connector.
2. The valve disc and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean or
replace if necessary.
3. Insert the inhalation valve in the connector.

Replacing the inhalation valve (P-type connector)
1. Press the button on the connector and, at the same time, pull the
inhalation valve out of the connector.
Take care not to damage the connector.
2. The valve disc and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean or
replace if necessary.
3. Press the button and insert the inhalation valve in the connector.

Replacing the valve discs of the nose cup valves
Valve discs and seats must be clean and undamaged; otherwise
clean or replace the valve discs.

Replacing the connector

1. Take hold of the nose cup at the tip of the nose, then pull it off the
pin and out of the speech diaphragm groove.
2. Unhook the cap on both sides from the visor frame (Figure F1-1 on
page 263).
3. Use your thumbs to press against the bottom part of the cap and
remove it from the fastening lugs (Figure F1-2 on page 263).
4. Pull the cap from the facepiece.
5. Use a screw driver to pry open the clamping ring, then remove it.
6. Pull out the old connector.
7. Align the new connector and the center marking before inserting
and make sure that it fits properly.
8. Align and mount new clamping ring: Attach the hook to ensure the
tightest possible fit of the clamping ring. Compress the nose on the
clamping ring using type R 53 239 pliers until the equipment
connector is securely located in the facepiece body.
9. Put the cap on the connector, lock it into place on the fastening
lugs (Figure F1-2 on page 263) and hook it into the visor frame
(Figure F1-1 on page 263).
10. Put the nose cup onto the pin to center it.
11. Press the ring of the nose cup into the speech diaphragm groove
- at first at the bottom and then all around the speech diaphragm.

Replacing the head harness
Remove the head harness from the facepiece as follows (Figure J1 on
page 263):
1. Pull the head harness away from the strap on the facepiece.
2. Push the clip on the head harness towards the visor.
Attach the head harness to the facepiece as follows (Figure J2 on
page 263):
Put the clip onto the strap of the head harness, then pull the clip
away from the fastener so that the clip clicks into place.
Make sure that the tab on the strap locks firmly into the hole of the
clip.
